The setting of this scene from Uncut Gems is a school production, but the real drama is in the audience. The lead character, Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler, a jewelry store owner, has recently acquired a rare gem, but hes also accumulated some debt along the way. In this scene, during a school play hes attending with his family to watch his daughter perform, some not-so-nice men have come to collect on that debt. In their narration, the directors Josh and Benny Safdie discuss how they use a shoulder-tap gag to create a fearful moment, shifting the tone of the sequence and heightening the stakes exponentially in a matter of seconds.

I noticed that Aren Topdjian was playing the husband of the other Long Island family. it's been 10 years since Daddy Longlegs and seeing him as a cameo in one of your newer, high-budgeted films made me geek out in the theaters.

Uncut Gems along with Adam Sandlers snubs will never be forgotten. Also the supporting actor category is very busy this year but on any other year I wouldve thrown KG a nomination! What a screen presence.

First time I noticed the scene at 1: 40 the lady behind them is listening to them threaten Howard and looks sort of concerned when they all leave. Most others are just totally oblivious lol

You can see the tracks from the dolly in the grass in that chase scene. Wonder why they did not remove them in post. Missed it? Out of money? Maybe they did not wanna do any special vfx?

John Wick would say, Impressive! But he would have dealt with the extortionists differently. A bullet in the head is always a more powerful argument in any kind of dispute.

Pretty good film.
But I don't get it. If Bill Murray can receive a nod for Lost in Translation, then I see no reason why Sandler shouldn't have with this film.

As they mention the big cart the camera was mounted on at the end, you can actually see the tracks it created in the grass.
