A MODEL who used to hide her port wine stain with makeup is now embracing the beauty of her birthmark. Amy, 28, was born with a port wine stain that covers half of her face. Amy grew up feeling self-conscious and would cover her birthmark, until she decided to post a -no makeup- selfie on Instagram which later went viral

My father passed 2 yrs ago at 93. He had a port wine stain birthmark that covered half of his face. When he was a kid he would get in fights constantly running after people who were picking on him. After he came home from WW2 he was told about a makeup invented by someone with a port wine stain, he started wearing it and wore it for the rest of his life. When going out he felt self conscious. Even with the makeup on He would ask me things like Pat is my makeup ok or is it to shiny? is it noticeable? etc etc. I would always tell him that he didn't need the makeup but he would respond that I didn't grow up with this i couldn't possibly understand what its like to have people act differently around you, he said kids were the worst they would point at it and then whisper to there parents about him. He said some children would ask him what's wrong with his face in front of everyone. When my father was 16 he even saw a doctor who used to put dry ice on his face to try to lift the port wine stain away. He only did this twice because it was so painful during the session and for weeks after. My pops was the coolest guy around, the most amazing father a son could ever have. I wish my father was alive so that he could see this video and know that the world is starting to change because of people like you!

I went to school with a girl with a port wine stain, and it affected her lips terribly. They gave her make up, but it would make her look far worse. This was in the 50's and 60's make up was not very good on those days. She was a quiet girl and I found out she worked for the council/ govement all her working life.
Did no one see beneath a stain what a beautifull soul she was. Or was she the one who pushed people away, I often wondered because she never married, I feel sad in a way but hopefuly she led a happy life in spite of it, I hope so, a I never forgot her.

I would kneel to kiss your hand if I ever was lucky enough to meet a woman as beautiful and humble as you. I would do anything to be your friend. You are amazing and if you are at all interested in me I would do whatever it takes to be part of your life. How could I bring happiness to your life?

If I had this I'd make up elaborate backstories every time someone asked me what it was. Like, got this fighting off a biker gang in the desert, or fought off a grizzly bear to save a classroom of children.

I have a birth mark on my right cheek and the comment that made me feel down on myself was people meeting me for the first time an saying -oh my God what happened to you? - You are beautiful -

This video helped me come out of my shell, because I usually call myself ugly all the time- I'm really negative to myself sometimes, but she taught me to be myself and just keep positive: D

My daughter and I both have hemangioma birthmarks. When my daughter was young a woman stopped me to tell me how lucky we were that we could cover them with makeup. I was so pissed.

Draw a mandala, on it xoxo
If you need inspiration, go to an Indian beauty salon. It's cheap, and there is amazing conversation there.
