It depends on what the person prefers (either coffee or tea). It is said that tea has a long lasting affect, and that it dosen't have that spike in alertness then crash, unlike coffee [need evidence]. About the long lasting affect, caffeine is the stimulant found in both of tea & coffee, thus, they would (in theory) have the same affect -because caffeine has the same half life in both products. But, it could be due to the way caffeine is stored in tea that gives it the no spike-then crash 'charastaristic', which allow for different method of absorption in the digestive systrm [need evidince].
