Why are humans so obsessed with cute things Why do plushies, cartoon characters, pastel aesthetics, and Kawaii culture make us feel comforted, emotional, and weirdly attached In this video, we explore the psychology of cuteness, baby schema, Kawaii culture, emotional regulation, and why our brains are biologically wired to react to adorable things. From dopamine and oxytocin to emotional safety and attachment, we break down the science behind why cute hits so hard and how modern culture turns that instinct into aesthetics, comfort, identity, marketing, and sometimes even something darker. Whether you love plushies, pastel aesthetics, anime, cozy gaming, or simply want to understand why cute things feel emotionally powerful, this deep dive into psychology and culture explains the hidden science behind it all. Feels like there is almost no one in the comments who has the other perspective so I wanted to give my two cents as someone attracted to cuteness.
My wife and I are together for more then 10 years and I do like when she acts cute. She is a lawyer and we are both turning 30 this year, but we still have plushies in the bed, speak softly, do cute voices and jump for joy for the silliest things.
I get how people perceive it from the outside, but to me the parts I like is the happiness and freedom I see on her face when she does that. She feels anxious and worried around everyone and her feeling like she has a safe space with me warms my heart. When she is at her work she needs to be serious and her family is super demanding and often even cold to her - demanding her to act mature and professional.
Maybe there is something wrong with me, but to be attracted to someone I need to know they feel comfortable and free and that is how I would describe my wife when she is being cute.
I think the more important reality is people feeling constrained and forced into acting a certain way. That seems to be more of the underlaying cause for all of this. And sure for some people that is the society asking them to be cute, but for my wife it is everyone expecting her to be flawless and serious.
Honestly feel like the society would just be better if we put effort into allowing people to express themselves in whichever way they want and be attracted to whoever they want (as long as it is legal of course. Someone can be attracted to someone because they are cute and they want to protect them and another person to someone because their admire and respect them. Love has many form, none are wrong and you can easily love a person in more then one way anyway.

I feel like that especially on the internet, it's a very dangerous place to just comment on other people's looks, especially to this extent. Regardless of who they are, at the end of the day they are still people and no one wants to be reduced to that (whether it's being in real life or virtually. I'm always careful what and if I comment on another person's looks. As unlikely as it is they would even see the comment, if they do it could make them either feel uncomfortable and or weird. And I also usually only comment on beautiful women (as woman who is 100% into men) and make it something genuine (not about their body either. Because idk. They don't know me and I don't know them and while giving compliments to others is important, you wouldn't just walk up to strangers and do the same or else you'll be perceived as a creep (when I sometimes read what people write under videos about Kpop idols I even start to feel uncomfortable on their behalf, even if they don't see it. No person. Whether male or female deserves to be treated as object. If you find someone to love and protect, that's beautiful. And then you can call them cute, adorable etc however much you like and even enjoy the sey aspects (although I don't get how to mix them either) but yes, unfortunately, these days media tries to seualize everything and everyone and sometimes it's disturbing and sad. Like in my personal opinion intimacy should be something very prvate and personal. And nothing that's showcased and even sold

From what I have experienced and observed, women are often socially expected or forced to be both sides of two opposite traits at once (usually by different people, places, situations or time, but can also overlap, like being cute, unthreatening, eager to please, obedient, child-like, young, pretty, energetic, innocent, need protection and help, while also having to be mature, suave, graceful, wise, capable, competent at what often assigned to women (like child care, house keeping, pleasing men, socializing, etc) and can handle things on their own.
I don't mean that people don't have seemingly contradictory aspects or traits of themselves showing up in different situations, nor that men (or people in general) don't face similar issues.
What I mean is calling out the immense societal or cultural standards that women are often judged by and forced to maintain without necessary resources and support, then being abused and thrown away (by all genders, actually, though men are more common) the moment they fail to conform or keep up with those.

I always liked cute girls but never had that dominating thing. I never wanted to dominate over someone else, not even at work or in any way. Obviously anime has a lot to do with that. I don't think attraction to cute girls is a problem (obviously I don't mean underage or with a huge age gap. Problem starts when your interest has more to do with controlling the other person, someone sees a cute girl as easy to control not because he likes her but because i could be easy. Even women of 30 or sometimes 40 years old are trying to have a more cute appearance over the last years. I happened to refer to a 38 years old woman as a cute girl once. I mean see did look younger, but she still looked like a 30 something woman with a really cute appearance. i didn't want to dominate her, I wanted to meet her, and possible date her while always thought her as a cute girl even when i found out her true age.

I want to know something. When I was young, I was forced to move school to school very much. My parents aren't let me play with my neighborhood friends since our country (Myanmar) is in bad time. They usually kept me in house to keep my save, and video games become my only friends I know. I make some friends in school and we play video games together, but once school year end, I unfriends them in video games, and left them behind because I got abandoned by so many friends that I don't want friends anymore, and it hurt when you are one trying to reach it, but they just ignore. I feel painful when I imagine the moment where I spend hour and hour with my friends. I still friends with people that want me to, but when they say I don't want to be your friends anymore. I just accept that with no resistence. Can you make a video about that and how to make it out from that

In my opinion you forgot a part. Men get pushed in that 'protector' role just as much as girls get pushed in that 'vulnarbility' role. You mention 'boys get trained' that attraction towards females means 'helplessness' but don't mention the reverse that women also get trained that attraction from boys means 'protectiveness' and 'bossyness'. These are two sides of the same coin and we should present it that way too and I feel like this video is exclusively highlighting just a single side of it (the female experience of it. Men get told just as much to protect, lead, be overly assertive and push down all vulnerability. So it's not just females that experience negative effects of this dynamic, yet the video seems to imply that it is (as if males 'benefit' from this even though they are just as much a victim)

Messages have always been mixed and often also opposite; without any guidance, only early years made me make decisions, tiny ones for which I made enormous efforts. but are easy to get and to obtain for anyone else.
I was put to watch movies filled wit s3x, girls always ready, in all weathers and condiction, to cross every line and to let anybody access to them, while my catholic culture forbade me to even think about the most innocent romance.
Uneasiness, guilt and no one to whom tell those things made the broken me of present day.
My mind was filled with painful clashes, but I was treated they were fake, as if I was making it all up; people respond with: Everybody do this!
It's another way to tell Shut up and don't bother!

4: 51 I still remember when I was younger I used to be surrounded by fake peoples I have been used many times you know why because I was so hello shy and introverted and my according to my young mentality and my society all I knew about being a girl was I had to stay quiet and like you know what I mean but over time and became more confident and I was not like other girls and but not in a bad way to learn to love myself more than others to anyone who needs that you are perfect Just The Way You Are please don't depend on what society thanks girls or boys or even mixed gender race or whatever it is that what society suspects you should be like be yourself

Hey Psyche2Go! This is not really related, but I was wondering if you could help me out on something! I have a crush on this girl. and I'm not sure if she likes me back. We were doing this thing where we would write messages to me in like some symbols and we would translate it. It was fun, and on one of the translations she gave me, she wrote a heart symbol alone. It didn't mean anything, just the letter B. Though, there was no erasing on it. So maybe it was on purpose I had no idea what that meant, but I still think about it till this day.
You probably won't see this, by I just wandered if you could reach out to me for advice!

I guess I was wrong to think it's a discipline exercise, till now I thought men who get attached to a girl and somehow wound up aggressive at some point is because they want to teach them how to fight back, to let her know that she belongs to him now and if anyone else outside sees her cuteness and tries to take control they learn how to resist and fight back others if need be, men who enjoy dominating it's kinda difficult to imagine, not that I haven't seen in media but never thought of it as an IRL level of interaction, I thought it's merely an entertainment trend that some enjoy in a show.

Great video. I'm a guy that's into cute and ddlg. A lot of people don't get it, and I've sometimes been bullied for my interest (which, frankly, only makes me more interested by turning me away from so-called adult behavior) But I also respect that people change or have different sides. Also, as a male that is shy and often considered cute, I've experienced the same disconnect whenever I raise my voice or behave in other confident and assertive ways: some women want the cute and don't see me as a full person with other emotions and capabilities so they lose interest.

This is just me but i have never wanted to dominant the girl i have a crush on instead i just become a disfuctional broken human overwhelmed by the world and over thinking everything i just try to hold everything preshis to me and than right when it hurts the most it falls apart and theres nothing i can do about it but nothing ever change i just do it again BTW I'm now in the bigining stages of this cycle a third time but i cant help myself. Through my teenage years I discovered I couldn't see cute. I couldn't see why people reacted the way they did when something cute appeared, it looked normal to me. After I turned 20 I started recognizing the cute I couldn't see. Now when I see something cute I get a faint must protect feeling yet it has always been denied as someone else is always there to protect it. Oddly enough I don't see cute in any of my stuff so I've never had the feelings mixed up. Just thought I would share my weird experience

I've never quite empathized with an erotic attraction to cuteness and innocence. It seems pedo-adjacent to me and I feel put off by people who are into it. I understand a well-manicured person with a smooth appearance, but I find cute/sweet/soft to be antithetical to attraction and that perhaps the person in question isn't emotionally mature enough to fully appreciate it anyway. Personally, I'm really creeped out when someone calls me cute.

This is one of the many faults of Capitalism, a Cancer which will continue to spread and cement itself in everything until our very being is infected and destroyed to serve the interests of the bourgeoisie.
We must fight this cancer, but we must avoid the revisionism of Eurocommunism, Gallowayism, market-Socialism and Trotskyism.

I agree w this vid, girls need independence, which many countries simply can't provide, bc of bigoted dangerous mindset. Even tho I love feminine girls both in cartoons and real life, we need more straightforward female role models not just cutesy, which has gone too far even downright creepy

You should educate your men to stop pedophilia and yellow fever, instead of trying to blame it on east asian culture. What we produce and what we watch is none of your business, because it was never intended for you to watch in the first place. In particular, please stop watching pirated content.
