Whats the difference between transitive and intransitive verbs? That's what Iqbal would like to know, and Dan has the answer! Ferat: Intransitive verbs can't be used in passive voice. For example, to swim is an intransitive verb. There is no subject that can be substituted in the passive construction subject + is + swum. Because there is no object for to swim in the active construction subject + swims.

Hi Dan. Thank you but It's not always as simple as what you explained
There are verbs called ergative verbs, which I had problems to understand before.
There are also verbs that are used as complements after nouns or adjectives, which sometimes make me confused wether or not I have to add an object.
I hope that you explain these cases in detail in the future.
