Why do pet cats continue to hunt despite being fed at home, the team set out to investigate. Taken from Cats Uncovered. Michael: Why would you wabt your cat to stop hunting, shes a badass, leave her that way, and shes saving you money, fresh meat provides water and nutrients for a cat, basically it satisfies all their survival needs besides shelter, which is probably why shes rejecting the cat food, because she doesnt need it, nor does she want it after a nice filling meal.

The proper answer would be why wouldn't they. There was no natural or artificial selection in cats that disadvantaged hunting, so it did not go away in accordance with the evolution theory. Humans started to bring cats to their domiciles BECAUSE of cats' hunting abilities, in the first place.

Tabbys hunt alot. My cat would bring 2-3 bird/mice + whatever he ate
Its a problem because some rare birds can lay victim and a few cats can massacre a whole block
My cat pretty much hunts for sport but I imagine in post apocalyptic times that would be very touching.

They do it still to show worthiness. Believing that since u feed them they feel the need to return the favor. Unfortunately they're not smart enough 2 release our digestive system cant rat raw food. Its also a game 2 them. They play with there food so its just fun

Windsor is the hunter in our house. He brings back birds, voles, mice, the like, but he never eats what he catches. That's up to Pekoe, our younger cat. They make a great team: One commits the crime, and the other eats the evidence

This is why i don't let my cats out anymore. I feel bad for the animals that she bought back, birds, bunny, mice, butterfly, some koi fish, a candy wrapper. She probably bring the wild population down by 50%

I love how the cat is making bird noises! I bet foolish birds think, oh, what's up with this poor fellow, he sounds pretty sick, let's have a look. Clever birds survive: -)

Of course you need her hunting skills because rats and mice will come back when cats arrive prey are reduced not eliminated when the predators are gone prey start spreading

My cat hunts and eats small rats, birds, and bugs, even with his cat food, he keeps hunting and eats his preys, Idk why he does such things

Try raw feeding the cat? If they've got good meat at home (not some meaty smelling kibble, they might not care so much to hunt.
