Grouse chicks in Scotland are often endangered by the cold, wet weather. Emma: I see a lot of people complaining about the man checking the chicks only to want to shoot them later in life. Yes, its sad, but that life. I dont known the full information around this but the man probably shoots them for either food or money in which he need to make a living. This is the problem with a lot of hunters and things, they shoot to make a living. And done in the right way/ legally, its ok, its sad for the animals, but its ok. It was illegal hunting though and poaching its not. I think we all just need to have an open mind with things like this and understand that this is how people survive. I an animal lover myself am always sad for the animals but it happens, and we just have to let it be

Maybe if we makes compost in around these areas, the heat from those compost may help their survival and please stop shooting birds, its primitive, unnecessary and definitely not a Sport at all, its CRUELTY, we gets meats readily in our supermarket, go to the shootings ranch or clubs to do harmless shootings instead. we can help grow more kinds of food scrubs, seeds plants and tender greens for those lovely grouses.

I'm surprised to see the BBC promoting anything with regards to Grouse Shooting in view of whats been happening & is still happening on Grouse Moors within the UK. IE Raptor persecution & the culling of Hares! as regards to the loss of jobs, yes maybe there would be a loss of jobs but it is nothing in comparison to the loss of jobs in the mining industry & the steel industry to mention but two!

you guys could learn a thing or two from maslow's hierarchy of needs, and maybe even trying out what your mind will do to you if you go just even a day or two without eating. it really makes you look at food differently, takes away the privileged mindset a lot of children here are displaying.

Wanting animals to live merely so that you can kill them. how depraved.
Animals are not resources or things for our use. They are sentient beings who value their own lives, and we don't have to kill them. Please leave animals alone and live vegan. Live and let live!

As a basic animal instinct we should not enjoy but realise a the fact hunting is natural part of life. At the same time we as humans have surpassed the need to do it for food but if we forget completely, when/if the needs arise we will die. Simple as that.

we must save them so that we can kill them personally when they grow into adults.
Not a fan of hunting. But hoping full immersion hunting simulater video games will reduce the number of real life hunting for sport

It should be noted that the moorlands are NOT natural habitat and do not really deserve protection.
Theyre the wasteland left behind from humans cutting down forests centuries ago.

If I was there in the frigid, moist season, I would not hesitate to save at least one baby grouse from the unforgiving wilderness and raise it as a companion pet.
