A lost princess, who is far away from home An octopus sees her hair hang into the ocean and mistakes it for another Octopus and he falls in love he learns its a princess and agrees to take her home, and when she is safely home and they have to be parted, she cuts off her hair and ties it into the shape of an octopus, giving it to her new friend so he won't be lonelyin the dark empty sea The octopus was happy carrying the hair until the ribbon holding the hair together comes undone. Trying to grab all the hair the octopus unintentionally ties himself into knots. He strains to grab one more piece and bursts. The chunks of the octopus combine with the hair and come back to life as jellyfish this is where my mom says jellyfish come from

I wonder. they sat there for 11, 000 years, there is abaut 1 million of them, they lost the ability to sting (defence) and despite all of that there are no predators that feed on them. that is fishy (or not) idk im not a scientist

Apparently some moon jellies got trapped in there, too. They must still be eating their regular fare, while the golden jellies somehow took up the symbiotic relationship with the algae.

So these jellyfish would eventually go extinct if the surrounding ocean was able to filter in and mix with the lake somehow? Or maybe they would just evolve again if theyre lucky?

Sadly many years ago I photographed a dead jellyfish on the beach, little or nothing left of it, after being pecked by a gull, but alive they're beautiful.

Pfft that's nothing come to Lake illawarra when they come, you basically drive your boat on top of them, theres so many you could walk on them.
