5: 43 These folks aim to extract some elements of religion from what they may view as corrupt institutions That reminds me of Alain de Botton's atheism 2. 0: a secular approach to life that draws inspiration from religious traditions without requiring belief in God (it came from the idea that current secular atheism leaves people feeling empty. Atheism 2. 0 emphasizes morality, community/shared rituals, meaning and self-improvement.

The supernatural has been depicted in art music compositions like Mozart’s Magic Flute, Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique, Wagner’s Ring, Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain (famously revived by Rimsky-Korsakov, Lyadov’s tone poems (Baba Yaga, The Enchanted Lake, and Kikimora, Stravinsky’s Firebird, Puccini’s Le Villi, Etc.

I loved how John was scrolling on his phone during the call with Devil’s advocate. I know it was likely just having his script on the phone but I want to believe the in universe explanation is that he was petting the advocate’s head while talking to him.

Utterly fascinating, as all of John's videos tend to be. I definitely identify as spiritual AND religious, and this video verbalized so much of what I believe but didn't have the brain power to properly articulate!

I quite recently heard that before people explained things that they didn't understand as work of gods, and now people explain things they don't understand as work of aliens.

UAP makes more sense because it accounts for phenomena that aren't flying objects, like weird lights or other things like that that could be caused by natural occurrences.
reply

I don't believe in ghosts and think there's a 99% chance aliens exist; but the chances aliens have come to earth is like 1: 10000th the odds ghosts exist.

I love that New Zealand is on the map of religions at 12: 09 for some reason, I guess it's left off maps so often Crash Course wanted to redress the balance
reply

12: 27 - In the end, it's the belief that matters, not the label.
As a nontheist Quaker, it's the PRAXIS that matters more than both of those!

I love your work man! As a young man trying to navigate the world of religion, these videos have been helpful and fascinating! Love ya, Hank!

You cannot reject the presence of spirits just because you don’t see them. There are thousands of people who’ve seen the ghosts

I’ve really been loving this series. Learning about religion has always been so fascinating to me. Thanks for teaching us.

Have you ever heard of Spiritism Very religious but very spiritual as well. With ghosts, angels and demons very well explained
reply

I've met people who believe in the paranormal like ghosts/souls/spirits/timelines but are dubious on religion or secular.
