Why is gender even a thing? To answer that, we-re going back to our three sociological paradigms and how each school of thought approaches gender theory. We-ll look at the structural functionalist view that gender is a way of organizing society into complementary roles, the symbolic interactionist take on how gender guides our daily life, and conflict theory-s ideas about how gender distributes power within society.

The thing, gender doesnt actually exist. Lets say I identify as male and someone else identifies as male. But, lets say we have different thoughts and ideas. Which one is the true male? Same thing for females. See unlike the number 4, which defines a specific quantity, gender doesnt define anything. Defining gender as a spectrum doesnt make sense either, because, as I have said, there is no definition to gender. Just because you play football, muscular, and etc doesnt make you a male. If you want to go further, there are 7. 7 billion unique genders since thats how many people there are. Each person is unique. Gender doesnt exist. You cannot define gender. Their is only biology. That is what makes you male or female for humans.

People out here really more concerned about that fact that she talking about a gender issue, and getting butthurt, than realizing that she-s talking in a pure objective matter. She doesn-t express her own opinions into the video, and talks about professional theories of MALE psychologists. People are just willing to put down something just because it may highlight their own possible privilege. Smh.

The idea that there are different colors is WRONG and socially constructed. What you think is red may look pink to people in another culture. Therefore we should get rid of the definitions of colors all at once and decide people can identify and name colors all they want.
What a convent logic. Why don-t we claim everything is socially constructed?

You lost me the moment you said that some ancient cultures believed that gender is a spectrum. Although some cultures did have a 3rd gender for aberrant cases, there is no evidence that the idea that gender is a spectrum even existed before it was championed by the feminists of the 20th century.

-western binary gender- is based on biology: chromosomes and genitalia. Leftists argue that people who reject gender fluidity are bigots, when in reality -western binary gender- follows actuality and biology. This video is so toxic and digressed to feminism.

I'm not really sure why this video has such a bad dislike ratio, I'm in a sociology class and she's basically just going over different sociological theories. The dislike knee-jerk reaction the internet has to gender theory content is outstanding.

3: 38 the idea of gender as a binary is certainly universal in Asia and the Middle East.
However, a very small and statistically insignificant portion of the population may have thought otherwise in Asia and the Middle East

Can someone please explain me why there are so many dislike? What was wrong in this video? What was so hard or unbelievable about it? How can people be so badly threatened if something speaks against their worldview?
reply

Thank you for making this very educational video, regardless of what the trolls spew in the comments section, the truth is that gender is a very complicated subject and varies from person to person.
