In which Mike Rugnetta begins our unit on pantheons, which are families of gods. We further define pantheons and talk about why they're important. Then, we discuss pantheons from the myths of the ancient Mediterranean, starting with ancient Sumer in Mesopotamia. The Egyptian pantheon brings us the story of Osiris and his envious brother Seth. We learn what these two pantheons suggest about the cultures where they originated

That's a great way to comprehensively introduce gods. Cudos for knowing who to cut (you made some rough choices) and cudos to Thought Cafe for great graphics. I do have some thought on -the gods of nature- vs -the gods of human nature- but I'm gonna hold it 'till Greek pantheon.

I disagree with that definition of -God-, God is a metaphysical entity having personity controlling phenomena. I think we need an absolute timless -God- because of the causality principle to explain the fine tuning, no escape from that.

When u choose English as a major u should know about Mesopotamia and Egypt Greek Roman myths too and other stuff
But it's somehow interesting
Crash course is really good in this ----

We need another video how sumerian pantheon is actually the origin story of all monotheistic religions today. Quick hint: in turkish, month july is called: -temmuz- (dammuz. familiar?

Multiple gods make way more sense then a single all powerful god. Like could an all powerful god make a rock too heavy for him to carry? I just don-t know how monotheism won out.

Thank you so much for creating this course. I had never realized how Europe-centered my European education was until now. So many more interesting myths!

Egyptians didn't build the pyramids or Sphinx. They are older that the people who built around them. No mummy has ever been found in a pyramid.

I may love studying and making mythologies but by casket of Osiris, is mythology odd. Nothing wrong with that nothing wrong at all.

Christianity is not monotheistic. They have Jehovah, yeshua/Yahweh, Lucifer. Their God even confirms that there are other gods.
