Stayed in a marina in USVI. We sailed with our husky (Best Dog EVER, but walking him was nightmare. The area we were confined to for walks (they weren't pet friendly and our transmission was broken) was tick infested.
I became an expert at removing them, into little pots of soapy water. There were times i was picking up to 30 after EACH walk. It was a fricken nightmare.

Strongly disagree that tweezers are best since they're famous for leaving the head in. Tick hooks that look like a wee claw hammer are the thing to use.
