I bought a Farberware stainless steel stove-top percolator a couple of years ago for less than $40 at Macy's. It's a similar design to what my parents used in the 1950's and 60's. It's not complicated, it's easy to clean, not it's posh at all. I don't care that it's not 'trendy' or 'cool' or 'impressive'. And, hearing that perk perk perk sound every morning brings me right back to my childhood.

Unless you are James Hoffman, the only thing that actually changes brew quality is the grinder. $80 for a Kingrinder and a $50 drip machine will get you 95% of the way to a four-figure Reddit setup. You can adjust the grind size to match the extraction of any machine and fix the too acidic/too bitter/too weak complaints in the video.

No conversation about grinder, nothing about bean quality or roast level, nothing about ratios, nothing about water quality, just 3 clueless hipsters blathering on about the most superficial taste experience of the various machines. Please explain as to why you even bothered to make this video.

We have a Technovorm, but it's the one with the insulated carafe. We've had it for 10 years or so and use it every day, and we've never had a problem with it. Other than occasionally cleaning it we've never had to do anything to it, and it makes great coffee day after day.

Just to add to the chorus, I've had a Moccamaster for 20 years, and it's pretty clear there's still nothing that comes close for an electric drip machine. I prefer the insulated steel carafe, however; no coffee should be sitting on a hot plate, plus it's more durable.

16 years with a moccamaster, one service send in but other than that fantastic. If and when it fails I will instantly be buying another. I have a thermal model I prefer it to the heated plate version they are showing. It makes the best coffee.

It's cool that the Aiden asks what elevation you're at, because you have to brew for slightly longer at higher elevations due to the water boiling at a lower temp. Having said that I'm never paying $400 for a coffee machine.

none of them would be my option. i used Bialetti stove top espresso maker for years. before i bought an actual espresso machine that i use daily now. (i use jura ena 8)

My son has the OXO, the start button makes me crazy and it takes me a couple of try's to get it brewing. a friend has the mochamaster and it makes excellent coffee.

Moccamaster while good are incredibly overrated, there are equally good/better machines for a lot less money, if you're not buying it for just the brand.

Doing this without manuals for each is dumb, but then I thought maybe you did it that way for comedic results. But yeah no, not worth it, that was dumb

Have these people brewed coffee before I hope they aren't engineers for anything mission critical because they seem to be missing a lot of IQ!

I have the same Mr. Coffee that I bought back in 1992 and it still works. lol, probably the only appliance that I haven't had to replace.

Sitting here with a TK-02, grinder, electric kettle and insulated French press on the counter. Hmmm maybe it's time for a drip brewer.

Next time wired does a test like this can we actually get some smart people for the test and not a bunch pompous assholes and idiots
reply

None of those, I want to put water in it, put the coffee in and turn it on and leave it. I don't want any fancy dials or all that BS.
reply

Love my Moccamaster, and their warranty is the best, bar none. Anything wrong, they fix or replace it. No questions asked.
