You think this garbage 19th Century narrative is going to fly today, Europe! You underestimate the rest of humanity if you do, Europe. You think I am going to call Napoleon a conqueror as France's enemies marched down the streets of Paris with the once powerful French military in shambles! You think I am going to call Napoleon a genius with multiple massive disasters and a losing war record as Napoleon ends in total defeat! You think I am calling Napoleon a triumph when a generation's worth of French boys are lying in mass graves as France is left military occupied? You think I am calling Napoleon enlightened and noble when the goon is reinstating slavery? No, you better get with the program and realize what time it is. Your story-telling is pathetic, Europe.

I used to think that the general peace that prevailed in Europe 1815-1914 was the result of the brilliant statecraft fashioned by Metternich and Castlereagh at the Congress of Vienna. I'm beginning to think it was merely due to a generalized exhaustion, and depletion of men and materials. As soon as the rulers and their new nations began to sense their regained powers, the battles re-commenced, 1914-1945. It's been almost 80 years since the end of the last generalized outbreak of European conflict. Are we due for another?

What is so interesting about the napoleonic wars, is that the battle fought and the loss of life were on scales almost unprecedented in history. Armies were enormous, resources were burdened heavily to support these armies. And just to think, only 100 years after this, World War One took place and made Jena, Austerlitz, Friedland and other battles look like they were nothing.
Just 100 years later all nations would fight and lose 1/2 a million men in battle that lasted weeks. Insane.

3, 250, 000 to 6, 500, 000 people died because of Napoleon and the Nazis were tried and convicted, and many more genocides who killed fewer people. Besides, there was no justification for so many wars. I don't understand such delicacy with a genocide. It is noted that the leaders were aristocrats and kings and did not want the example of capital punishment to spread, and not workers or people from liberal professions.

If only Napoleon had emerged victorious from it all. The following British world dominance and the continued existence of European monarchies has been a true cancer to toe world, setting back humanity at least a hundred years. His wars may have cost millions of lives, but many of those weren't even started by him but by the Coalitions.

This is the thing many legendary conquerors have in common: Being in the fight with thier men, eating to same food, riding under the rain with them and generally sharing thier hardship. This is why thier men loved them so much and would push themselves so hard to make thier leaders proud.

This video does something that makes the map misleading.
Routed corps do not cease to exist. They might be defeated, but they were generally reorganized and reconstituted. Very rarely were entire corps dissolved the way Epic History constantly displays them.

It's unbelieveable how a man goes back and forth from retreats, to counterattacks, to route, then defensive, and finally repeating the cycle. Napoleon is everywhere and anywhere.
Meanwhile. Barely go out during lockdown and it's mental hell here >o

What if Napoleon were just a bunch of Rich Guys pretending to be the same Person Leading Europe in an Imperialistic way.
There isn't one Painting of Him where he is equal to Himself.
Hope the one in Saint Helena was a Boncompagni.

It's a sure tragedy to learn of so many supposedly Christian men of Christian nations slaughtering one another, only so that modernity can ultimately be born and erase any purpose those battles might have had.

I think Napoleon got too greedy he should have accepted a truce when they told him to keep the old borders of France, either way he surrendered in the end so it was pointless and egotistical.

Imagine being a soldier in the allied armies. You all know what this man is capable of, and you receive news that he earned 4 victories in 6 days against the odds. Now, that is soldiering.

I've never been all that interested in military history but I must admit these videos are extraordinarily well done and very exciting to watch.
