Neon Knots and Borromean Beer Rings Keldor314: I think the biggest limit to being able to put a knot in a neon sign is that you can't thread it through loops. The reason is that you're starting with a glass tube, and then, using a blow torch, bending it in to shape bit by bit. But since you're only heating and benting a little bit of the tube at a time, there's no way to move around the long straight end to thread through a loop you just made. At least, not without some very significant difficulty.

When I had my 18th birthday my farther took me into a restaurant bought me a beer and after we had saluted each other and had the first sip, told me that I was now an adult and that he was no longer responsible of me and asked if I want to be his friend. I answered yes and we had always fun together up until he died.

This is one of my favorite pieces you made. Can't wait to hold and see my Klein bottle!
I'de like to come see you and give you a gift that is related to this video. It deals with magnetic fields and a device I made to demonstrate magnetic fields and how to overcome gravity locally.

Such a poignant story about his father at the end, and the lifelong wait for his permission. An emotional story that exists in a different plane to the one were Numberphile is usually to be found. Nicely done though.

A power circuit needs to be knotted to function, but some knots needs more power circuits to function as a knot. And if you do nothing about a long flexible thingy it'll get knotted almost by itself '; )

Nothing to do with this video. I just ran across something interesting. 1393/1476. Do the calculation. Didn't know where else to post it. Maybe someone will notice it here and play with it.

If John Bonham was still alive, I would steal this sign from Cliff and give it to John for his birthday. It's his symbol, and he loved beer (maybe a little too much.

Why is it that electrons are experiencing a knot through the neon piece? By going through the circuit they are simply loops like the magnet strings, no?

-Neon people are clever. Look- look what they've done with letters, like the letter A. People who make neon don't listen to topologists. -

Wonderful video!
It was really interesting and exciting, and the ending was beautiful. Cliff can make anyone smile talking about math
