How to make a Klein Bottle from an old pair of jeans Dan: It only just occurred to me after watching this that you can potentially make paper Klein bottles.
You need a square of paper, scissors and approx 10-12 pieces of sticky tape.
Make about a quarter incision horizontally, halfway along either side of the paper.
Stick the top 2 segments together facing one direction. (2 pieces tape)
Stick the bottom 2 together in the opposite facing orientation. (2 pieces tape)
You should now have two rings of paper, linked by the middle, opposite one another.
Take the one end/mouth of the top ring and fold it around and tape it to the end/mouth of the bottom ring. (4 pieces tape, maybe more)
This SHOULD create a Klein bottle effect. It's not pretty, but should be, to my understanding, topologically correct.
I tried it with a square of kitchen roll and it seemed to work.
Have fun!

I'm going to use this as a gimmick to sell shirts. Get TWO Klein bottles with every shirt! Act now! What's a Klein bottle, you say? You don't know because you have zero! But hurry! You can have TWO, that's right, TWO with every shirt. Use offer code CLIFF2018 to get two ADDITIONAL Klein bottles when you purchase pants!

Take your ragged old pair of jeans with a hole in a knee. Cut off the leg (of the jeans) that has the hole in it. Sew the bottom cuff of the leg to the top hole where you cut it off, so you have a toroidal surface of denim with a hole in it.
Now turn it inside out - without cutting or tearing it.

I watched this video yesterday, and this morning, while taking on my pants, I realized something.
Pull one of the legs inside out, join the two foot-ends together, and there you have it! Another way of making a Klein Bottle. Or is it? I'm intrigued to hear what Cliff has to say about that: )

It took me until the 2nd watching a year and a half later to realize that the inverting move through the hole is the same as flipping one side of a strip if paper to make a mobius loop before you glue the ends together. Except it's the 3D version through 4-space.

This man has destroyed a minimum of three pairs of jeans and a long-sleeved shirt for the sake of demonstrating his beloved Klein bottles.
Failure to admire his dedication to the craft is a capital offense, punishable by being made into a Klein bottle.

Once bought a glass klein bottle off this dude. The quality was great, but the best bit was all the sheets of info i got about it. He is bonkers, but amazing. Would definitely recommend acme Klein bottles.

You don't have to cut your pants, you can just pull in one of the legs through the waist and sow the end of it to the other leg's end. I actually took off my pants and tried it out in my living room.

This man cut up his own clothes to show us how to make Klein Bottles, just so he can close it off with him telling us we don't need to buy his products anymore. What a legend

If Cliff walked outside with that shirt, people probably wouldn't even need to ask what happened to his sleeve. They'd just know he probably made it into a klein bottle.
