You can’t fix poverty, just like you can’t fix world hunger, these problems are a cause of human desire.
Did you know governments limit how much a farmer grows It is illegal for a farmer to grow more food/crop than it is legally bound to. Why It can crash the market, people will lose money over selling the food or crop. World hunger is perpetuated by people.
If you look at any nation, you will find that only a select few usually hold more than 40% of that nation’s wealth. These are the ones who like to call themselves the upper class or elite. Generational wealth from oilers, wartime investors, and resource hoarding. Those that have a taste of wealth will do everything in their power to maintain it. Even if it means poverty for the rest of the world.
Really tired of people running in circles wondering why is there things like poverty and world hunger, it’s all of our faults. It’s the 1%’s fault for having greed and hoarding worldly wealth. And it’s also YOUR FAULT, for choosing to live under the laws, and unspoken social norms that the elite have created to keep you in your place, and give themselves tax breaks, and free reign to pleasures and amenities that are only dreamed about in starving households.
Thomas Jefferson wrote once, the tree of liberty must be revived from time to time by the blood of tyrants. I fully believe that tree is all but completely dried out, it must be revived. It’s been a while, and we all know who the tyrants are, so what’s stopping you
Are you happy with life Are you happy with your 28$ an hour job Your management salary of under $100, 000 a year Your tiny apartment or house that you pay taxes on to people you’ve never seen Your social circle of like minded friends and family who believe their morals and faith are the right way
Stop pretending, get up, grab your gear, organize en masse, and liberate yourself and your country from the wealthy tyrants who have been telling you, your parents, and your grandparents, and their grandparents what to do and how to live, and tossing them a small pittance to survive under an inflating economy. What are you going to do about it

This is demagogy.
NoT tRuE ShUt YoUr MoUtH: You're not a good person if you're not ready to listen.
What taxing the billionaires even mean Of course I wanna tax them more but I am not saying I disagree with that, I am saying that we are the problem, not only the billionaires. OIL COMPANIES ARE BAD! GUESS WHO BUYS FROM THEM! the same applies in every sector. This kind of sentences is just demagogy to get new followers that wanna feel validated in doing nothing but blaming billionaires. Taxing billionaires will not stop companies by polluting if your friends and family keeps buying new stuff any time they need anything or they use car every time they need to move just to feel free. We are the one to blame even if we don't do these things: because we are blaming billionaires instead of our friends and families that buy from those billionaires. Who likes this post is victim of propaganda no less then who thinks that JUST recycling will save anything. We gotta fight for BOTH. The same applies for everything! Tax the billionaires! Yes! And then They'll go away. First of all we gotta make ONU stronger so that billionaires will have nowhere to hide their money.
Make less debt! Yes! But then we shall stop wanting always welfare and more important we shall stop glorifying unproductive soldiers that go to war just to benefit big corporates while wasting our military budget.
Remember that everything is up to us: start talking with your friends and family, make them outraged, start fighting.

My hypothesis is that cash is a better aid option because it allows the individual or group decide the best way to use the resource to meet their situational needs. Rather than giving food or clothes or education (not that any of these things are unneeded) allowing the recipient to tailor the procurement of necessities according to their own specific situations allow for the utility of the resource to be maximized, provided the recipient is not burdened with fundamental behavioural issues such as addiction. When individuals or groups don't have to worry about sacrificing their time to satisfy basic needs, they can reallocate their time, energy and attention to more important things such as their family (which bolster a sense of safety and contentment, improving happiness, interest (which would lead to innovation) and recuperation (improving general productivity - you can't work on a broken body and mind. Most ppl instinctively feel trapped and hopeless when they live paycheck to paycheck or from hand to mouth because they cannot see the end of the tunnel, leading to escapism through substance abuse or other such endeavours.

Give the dollar (all world currencies) value again by bringing back the gold standard and silver currency. In the 1960's minimum wage was $1. 25hr, gold was $35. 35oz and we got paid in actual silver. This allowed you to buy a gallon of milk for $0. 20, chicken for $0. 29lb, gas for $0. 19 a gallon, a used car for $50, and you could build a house for $2, 100 (which my grandfather did in 1961. A kid bagging groceries at a Mom & Pop in 1965 only had to work a week to earn enough money for a months worth of food, rent and utilities. Eliminating the gold standard and silver currency transferred all wealth from the people to the richers.
To equal the same value of labor 60 years ago, we would need a minimum wage of $142hr today. This is not because of inflation, it's because the dollar is worthless paper, and backed only by Hopes and Prayers. $1. 00 today is only worth $0. 005 compared to what it was worth prior to the creation of the Federal Reserve. That's right, cut a penny in half and that's the value of $1. 00.
Silver is money, gold is wealth.

We did this. Our parents did this. Our silence did this. What do your family and friends do to fight for a better economy What Luigi did was good but not remotely enough. Even 1000 Luigis wouldn't be enough: BECAUSE billionaires are not the only ones to blame. It's our fault too. Oil companies are bad! Who buys their oil Your friends! Have you ever told anything to them The same with the government. They gave us democracy to control us but we made it easier: it's our fault if democracy nowadays means nothing; half of the population doesn't vote, half of who votes do it uninformed or disinterested. What do you do when your parents vote uninformed What do you say to the friend who doesn't vote What do you tell to the guy who comments saying When the country was led by the left/right without acknowledging that the system is corrupted and they will always be the same until the population will not care enough to fight. The same applies with everything. We know only to complain without doing anything concrete.

More details would be appreciated.
It's hard to tell if the money helped by enabling the families, or by jump starting the local economy.
The difference is that if it's the first, then you can give people money to get them out of poverty, but if it's the second, then providing people in poverty with money won't help them, as it's not enough to jump start the economy that keeps them there.
Also, there is a big difference between people beingin poverty, and a community being in poverty.
Of course, multiple things can also be true at the same time, by being contributors of different magnitudes.
I also wonder if it needs to be a one-off, or how frequent can it get before people stop trying, bringing the economy to its halt, if that even happens.
And there you kinda slide into UBI, and whether there is an amount, where price increases caused by it don't nulify its benefits.

counter example, for a very real world example; for anyone interested look up for kampung miliader in Indonesia.
there are some real life cases in my country.
in short, some years ago several villages got their house and land bought up by the govt for some projects, and many of the villagers got rich overnight. we talking up to equivalent of 1. 7 million usd. most are getting hundreds of thousands usd.
in a country where the monthly minimum wages is like 200-300 usd.
most of them, like almost all, squander their money like crazy. some even bought hundreds of cars immediately.
they did all that, despite the govt assitance like giving them proper financial education like how to invest, save, etc.
and now, most of them are broke. only a very little number of them did smart things with the sudden wealth they receive.

OK. You give $500 to 10 people. 9 of them invest money into farming. 1 of them opens liquor store.
1 year later 9 people stayed poor or worse and 1 person becomes super rich.
You've decided to give this people $500 every year to overcome this tendency.
9 farmers stay poor. 1 Liquor store guy gets crazy rich. He buys all the land.
You've decided to stop giving this system money.
5 farmers die from starvation since they have nothing left to survive.
4 farmers work for a liquor store guy. Now they call him a lord.
(I'm not saying this people are destined to stay poor forever, but you need to take into account money extraction businesses. If we can limit or eliminate them, we can make this work. And mafia or corrupt government are one of the worst examples of money extraction)

The first step in ending poverty is to get rid of all the people who want to keep it, and who spout ideologies as to why poverty is necessary (or inevitable. It would cost nothing to eliminate poverty, because whatever we spend on the project will be paid back with profits because the people who have been lifted out of poverty will have greater productivity and will put more back into the economy than was spent to lift them out of poverty. The reason certain interests want poverty to continue is not the aversion to what it would cost to eliminate it, but sheer egotism. They're so add|cted to the perception of themselves as a meritorious class that they'd rather be less affluent and preserve that delusion than be more affluent but have to lose their elitist self-perception.

Coming from a third world country where so many of us fall into the category of extreme poverty as per the UN definition, I've seen how giving the poor (1) a decent living quarters/homes, (2) access to healthcare to take care of immediate health problems, and (3) a sum of money to buy food & other essentials does help them tremendously, but only in the short run. Without mindset reformation, they will easily fall back to their old ways of living. You think differently when you're living in limitations and deprivations for so long. It is crucial to teach, show, and give them access to education, information, and empowerment. It is imperative to help them earn a viable, sustainable income so they can stand on their own feet and be productive, contributing members of society.

It really makes sense. When I was on unemployment benefits (what we call A-kassen in Denmark) there were all these requirements for how I was supposed to hunt for jobs in order to keep my unemployment benefits but it didn't lead to anything for over a year. Then I started lying to the job centre and pretend that I was job hunting after the requirements while actually just applying in the way I myself thought would best help me. I felt guilty lying but I got more job interviews and also ended up with a job with a better pay than the kind of jobs the job centre wanted me to apply for.
Sometimes, the it's people themselves that know what's best for them and not those that pay the money.

I am skeptical to giving endless amounts of poor communities money, when we know our own politicians use this as a method to move money out of our communities into their offshore accounts, were maybe only 10% of the original aid is received, which is then pocketed by the politicians in that poor community. So only 1% of that original value may be received by the poor.
I think giving vaccinations and other cheap aid that goes a long way is valuable for the world, but moving endless amounts of resources is not sustainable. Let the poor communities build their societies themself, and let them start trading on the international market to become more resourceful.

This just confirm the biggest problem with today world is unfair distribution of wealth. Open border policy for decades has increased the global wealth to new height. Billionaires and large corporations are raking in money like there's no tomorrow is proof of that. But while there still extreme poverty The right wing so-called conservatives is trying their best to push their propaganda of villifying poor/disadvantaged/marginalized people (especially of color. Condemning these poor groups as lazy. While they themselves are born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Their piecemeal aids is their scheme to exert their control and keep poor people/nation in check.

Many times I have wondered how well I would do long term if I received a large sum of money. I have also had thought about how someone with a truly staggering amount of money could positively influence families lives in a general community with various funded programs. From higher quality sources of academic education, life skills education, free quality childcare and a hands on long term ongoing economics counseling. I have wondered if something of that nature could make a long term difference and how many generations it would take to lift a family permanently out of poverty level living.
I have way too much time to day dream about such ideas.

Just invest weekly. Saving is impossible now the better bet is to select an index fund, skip and door dash yourself that 20 dollars a week or month (less then 20 feels less painful for me but adjust accordingly, then shabam. DONT GET MARGINS, spend for dividend stocks you like and just hold till you reach your goal.
REMEMBER, you cant feel the pain of loosing money if you dont see it. We have credit cards to make it easier to not realize the losses weve made cause they remind us monthly. But cash leaving your hand will always sting. So make sure you invest and save for yourself. Dont buy penny stocks, be smart, and take it low and slow

Basically, it worked better because poverty is a lack of resources, which must be addressed before skills and learning. A similar effect is seen in educational environments where kids without reliable meals tend to have lower educational outcomes.
Of course, much of this ignores the root of much poverty: exploitation. The resources often would still be there, if not for others (usually with plenty already) taking them to get profit. We (global population) produce more than enough to meet everyone's needs. It is by choice, the choice of a few usually, that we do not ensure it is distributed to meet those needs.

Another thing that struck me form the vid is that it seems the wealthy do philanthropic activities more to stroke their own ego (or conserve their income since they get tax deductions) rather than to actually solve a humanitarian problem. They insist on control over what aid is provided rather than trust the recipient to do what's best. They would rather spend alot more money on administration than to actually just hand the donated wealth over to their intended recipients thinking they know better than them since the wealthy are clearly doing better than the poverty stricken. Kinda like playing God.

Does it really need that much ressearch to understand that cash is beneficial to people living in poverty
Giving it to someone who knows exactly what they need in order to cover what they cannot cover, will prioritize the approach of spending so no money goes out of the way. They would not mess it up so they won't risk losing it. Even if these very people and families do not know how to manage money properly, I am certain they are doing their best.
So, yes. I do not get what is so shocking about trusting a poor person with a sum money without assuming they are going to spend it around.

The only known cure for poverty is the emancipation of women. Christopher Hitchens
Women being forced to have too many children, too young, without money or resources to care for them, is the engine of poverty and inequality. Birth control, educational opportunities, and full freedom of choice over their own bodies and pregnancies is the only way to blunt the worst effects of poverty.
If, by definition, poverty is intergenerational, then the only way to solve it is by freeing that next generation of mothers from the reproductive slavery and financial ruin of unplanned pregnancies.

The best and only permanent solution to poverty is Universal Basic Wealth. Recognize that everyone has an equal and inalienable Usufructory share of the wealth that is a common legacy and not produced by labor or lawful exchange. The most important thing in that category is AI and the IP it creates. That is produced from the common legacy of human knowledge. Everyone has a right to an equal share of it. Also in that category is Land and Natural Resources - but much of that on Earth is already claimed and combined with Capital. All the Resources off the earth though are not controversial.
