The Muslim countries were too focused on land based conflicts to focus on the west. Ottomans had to deal with the Austrians and the HRE. And the Safavids to the east. Also even if they tried Britain France and Spain had a way easier time supporting their colonies partly due to their proximity. An ottoman colony would never have lasted when a full blown war broke up between the European powers

they had no extra money. the ottoman which was big at the time, but had no extra budget to go and send anything from the Mediterranean. at loss. and they were already busy keeping their land in control. Also they were already on decline, the colonies would fall before they even start to give anything in return.

i watched a recent PBS thing about how many Muslims fled the Ottoman Empire, wound up in places like Michigan, ended up converting to Christianity, and fully assimilated. so i suppose there was much surprise when Michigan people did DNA tests and it revealed ancestry from the historical Ottoman Empire.
