For most of human history, we have sought to treat and cure diseases. But only in recent decades did it become possible to ensure that a particular disease never threatens humanity again. Julie Garon and Walter A. Orenstein detail how the story of smallpox the first and only disease to be permanently eliminated shows how disease eradication can happen, and why it is so difficult to achieve. Sadly, this is another one of those frustrating videos where the background noise, annoying & intrusive drumbeats, and sound effects are so loud, compared to the low audio level of the narration, that it seriously interferes with the narration and we can't hear what he's saying.

Such an informative video but the whole experience is ruined by only the super-annoying and absolutely distracting background music. Please check this issue from the next videos. Thanks as always for a nice video.

Human being is a kind of virus to Mr. Earth. When human being makes Mr. Earth sick, Mr. Earth creates Corona antibodies as an immune response to kill human being.

Essentially we need: screening, identification, contact tracing, physical distancing, vaccinations, and international cooperation to eradicate covid.

i thought he was going to say that we got rid of smallpox by getting rid of humans after he mentioned that they can only be hosted in humans
