In a typical heros journey, the protagonist sets out on an adventure, undergoes great change and returns in triumph to their point of origin. But in the Irish genre of myth known as echtra, the journey to the otherworld ends in a point of no return. Iseult Gillespie shares the myth of Oisn and the land of eternal youth. This is eerily similar to a Japanese children's story called Urashima-tarou: Urashima-tarou rescues a turtle, who brings him to the undersea palace in thanks. Life is perfect, but he wants to return home. The princess gives him a gift, but tells him not to open it until he is an old man. when he returns, he finds that 100+ years have passed and his family is gone. He opens the box, and instantly becomes an old man.

Everytime I watch these videos, the outro music beeping at the end makes the same sound when my headphones are low battery so I always mistake it for that lol

the most well-known version of the 'otherworld' is obviously isekai manga rpg world with a lot of cute loli or handsome 15 years old boy.

It's interesting that there is a Romanian story in the folklore with a prince who does something alike, but I don't recall the title.
