Why should you read Lord of the Flies by William Golding? - Jill Dash

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
After witnessing the atrocities of his fellow man in World War II, William Golding was losing his faith in humanity. Later, during the Cold War, as superpowers began threatening one another with nuclear annihilation, he was forced to interrogate the very roots of human nature and violence. These musings would inspire his first novel: Lord of the Flies. Jill Dash dives into the timeless satire. Lesson by Jill Dash, directed by Lucy Animation Studio

My thought on Lord of the Flies when I first read it was Why must we consider this bleak view of mankind just because a guy eloquently wrote about it in a fictional story? You could write a story about anything, that doesn't mean its message is true. I prefer to look at the actual realities of the world to determine how I see it. Mankind was on the brink of nuclear disaster during the cold war and could have wiped itself out, but eventually peace was brokered and we endured. What does this tell us?

This inspired me to read the novel and I am absolytely stunned. God, Golding deserved the nobel prize. It is like an island adventure story until you realise the hidden meanings behind every single thing on the island. So dark. Thank you TED-Ed

Im trying to figure out if I want to read catch-22. On the one hand it seems to have a nihilistic view, but it also seems to be anti-bureaucracy and anti- war. However, WW2, was a noble war to save lives. Should I read it?

This video is entertaining, but has several embellishments and downright inaccuracies in its summary of the novel. Teachers should take note and offer necessary corrections to their students.

This book pissed me off. I remember reading it and thinking why they picked on the weak and why the leader got away with it. It was an injustice that should have been revenged.

This book is total balony. Who would act like that? Whoever thinks kids would act this way when there are no laws should stop watching TV and go outside.
