Can electric cars reclaim their place on the road? Discover how developments in battery technology are making these cars more efficient and powerful. By the end of the 19th century, nearly 40% of American cars were electric. But these vehicles had a few major problems early car batteries were expensive and inefficient, and the vehicles were twice the price of a gas-powered car. And so for the next several decades, gas-powered cars dominated the market. Can electric cars reclaim their place on the road? Daniel Sperling and Gil Tal investigate. Jake: Electric vehicles are great but public transportation is a better solution to battle climate change. We should work on moving in that direction. Lithium mining is terrible for the environment and cities are better when they are designed for people instead of cars.

Wow, I never knew electric cars was a concept back then. Now that after so many years they have revived, thanks to the advancements in technology and the consequences of today's world, I wonder how many ideas that would have been a possibility, would have been put off because science hadn't progressed so much or simply because the consequences weren't in favour.

I dont suport this nonesense. The climate can be solved with carbon neutral fuel such as biofuels and synthetic fuels. Why not make a campaign about that instead of promoting toxic batteries?

Oh yeah using Norway as the role model country for clean energy. Let's just ignore that they export more than a million barrels of oil per day.

Fun fact, in 1908, Philadelphia, there was a race between an electric car and a gas-powered car. The electric car won by 10 minutes.
