There is a much bigger message here that applies to everyone, today, more than ever. If the state apparatus, any state, silences the media then the general population, or chosen minority, will live in blissful unawareness and if the state uses clever propaganda then all actions are seemingly justified and no questions asked. Even worse, if the media is replaced with puppets of the state then the norm is established and accepted as default. This is the definition of group / herd mentality. It's easy to judge watching this documentary but the past is just that, the past. Look at the world today, especially China, look at bias news organisations such as CNN and the BBC and understand that the issue is really: if there is one thing humanity has learned from history then it is. that we don't learn from history.

They thought all they had to do was put Mandela in power and everything would get better and they would create a liberal democracy and equality in South Africa. Very sad how wrong they were and a very misleading documentary. What are we supposed to call what's happening there now if not apartide? How safe would you feel walking around the streets of Johannesburg today? It was horrible watching that woman laughing about speaking for a mass murdering genocidal dictator (Stalin. Horrible how she seemed proud of herself even whilst claiming to be ashamed. This documentary is the very definition of misinformation in my opinion.

The ignorance in the comments section is astounding. Apartheid South Africa was a developed country? If the current South African government illegally arrests millions of white people, puts them in labor camps also known as prisons, forcing them to build the economy with their sweat and blood, the economic success that will only be enjoyed by 15% of the black population while the rest of the population lives in extreme poverty, then we can call South Africa a developed country right?

Many years ago my Mother worked for a major media company and the Station received a magazine i believe monthly about African Nations still under Colonial rule and their progress. Being a fan of all things Africa i eagerly devoured each issue and saved them only to lose my collection in a garage collapse involving water which ruined them. At the time South Africa was a rising Nation and even what we now call Zimbabwe was modernizing. Now both are lawless garbage heaps.

Apartheid and the bore war BOEREN, white farmers. Dutch / Germanics. To this very day, there is so much corruption and plunder and murder towards the white farmers. Mandella may have been a hero, but when he came to power, he enriched himself. Did he really care about the country and people? There was more to it than meets the eye. Rhodesia and another diamond mine were open. DeBeers. Even Australia had a keep Australia white policy under PM Menzies

An inspiration to all newspaper publications even to news networks whose ideology is to stand for truth to fight against a truly oppressive government. The Guardian aka The Clarion is a role model of freedom and so admirable for being very independent yet supported by many South Africans. They proved that indeed truth cannot be silenced forever.

I am left wing but same is happening now with the widespread, comprehensive banning of anti vax media. You will probably say its wrong to equate the two and I dont cause they are different but least in terms of scope what is happening now is far larger and wide ranging. Do you believe the fact checkers?

When the Treason trial collapsed and the last defendants released, the presiding judge stated to the Prosecution, South Africa is not a police state, YET! There is a lesson for the USA racism is being used to destroy democracy.

I'm in South Africa and this documentary isn't available in South Africa. It's ironic that I had to turn on my VPN not to have this information kept from me.
