60 Stunning Photos Of America In The 1950s And 1960s The one outstanding thing I didn’t like from the 50-60s was the spectacle design, they were just hideous, not very flattering at all. Can you imagine the reception the Cadillac Cowgirls would have received because of the way they were (almost) dressed even 10 years before this photograph was taken, I doubt that it would have been at all complimentary, but the world had been changed irrecoverably in the preceding decades, attitudes were never going to be the same again, I’m glad to say. That’s one great way to go ice fishing.

I remember the car seat in this video very well, my aunt had one in her car for my cousin. I guess those were for rich kids because all I had was a couple of Sears and Roebuck catalogs to sit on. with no seat belts.
As a child of the 50's and 60's, I would love the see a video full with just photos of baby things like car seats, cribs, strollers, high chairs, walkers, etc. from that era. It would be kind of cool to see these things again. Also it would go along way into proving why most of us are as tough as we are!

I was a baby back then and this was the time period of my parents. Frankly it looks like the good times are a thing of the past not only in the USA but in most places like me in Europe. I don't know why but it seems people were of a different breed - not many people being obese to start with - and it looks like life was much more enjoyable, people looking more optimistic and perceived more as individuals. If I could choose I would opt for the lifespan of my parents (1930 - 2010.

I always enjoy these photo trips back to the good old days. But some things were worse (e. g, segregation, dental visits) and some eerily prescient (e. g, Keep Florida Green car plate motto. One of the typical teenagers is a shot from a modern day TV series based on Archie comic books. And who was that great independent gal smoking a cigar, drinking from the bottle (she had a glass) and her leather briefcase by her side Best photo in the bunch!

I love these. Just one thing though. The picture of the teens having a burger and milkshake appear to be a promo pic of the actors that play Archie and Veronica on the show Riverdale from the CW network. Not a picture from the 50 or 60's, but a current one.

I grew up in the fifties and sixties, so my memories are that of a kid. I would love to time travel back to those years for a vacation as an adult to view how my parents saw things then and get a different perspective of those years.

The 63 Corvette and Mustang are the two best looking American cars ever made. Today cars look like six year olds designed them. All the same, all totally bland, all nearly exactly the same. Even the new colors are depressing.

Is this the America that got lost Well, seeing as leaded gasoline was still widely in use and black people still had virtually no rights, it's probably a good thing that version of America got lost, isn't it

Since I didn't see anyone else point it out, 4: 42 Teens enjoying milkshakes and burgers is a scene from the TV show, Riverdale (2017. The two sitting there are actors, Lili Reinhart and KJ Apa.

What i see from these photos and also lived through was ladies in dresses. When was the last time, besides on screen, have you seen a lovely lady in a dress. Miss those times.

Does anyone notice how healthy wholesome and happy the people looked. Times are always a bit tough in different ways but a less complicated life in many ways.

This was the golden age even thought other eras are cool this is always what america arleast in the end was about but sadly this was around 40-50 years before my time

A time of building, not of destroying, and OMG, rows of cars each different and each identifiable. No the cookie cutter world of today. I miss it an awful lot.

No tattoos, no overweight people, no PC crap. Just people who spend their lives in the outdoors reading, learning, travelling, and talking to others.

the very first picture awesome 63 Vette. Only year with the split window. Great pictures. I was pretty young in the 60's. I LOVE all the vintage cars.

4: 42 that's from the show Riverdale lol, that's Archie and Betty at pop's diner, which was intentionally designed to look like a 50's to 60's diner.

Great pic of the ship hotel on the Somerset/Bedford county line in Pennsylvania along US rt. 30. It was destroyed in a fire several years ago.

The beneficiaries of the socialist FDR’s policies. Today they vote to strip and deny those policies and protections to younger Americans.

I loved the way people dressed back then people cared about their appearance. No one is walking around with every inch of their body pierced

About the 1950 rockaway beach photo I can't determine if the young lady was double jointed and those were her legs over her shoulders
reply

Thought the same thing, first thing I thought was thats Betty from Riverdale, but thats ok, still a trip down nostalgic lane

Good GOD. This SEEMS like a different Earth & SURELY a different Time. Was born in 1952. As the Phrase goes: Those Were The Days!

As a 17 yr old I wish that I was born during such a prosperous time not the degenerate millennials and gen z like today

The very first picture said it all about America back then. The sky was the limit with us leading the way. What happened

5: 26. There was a huge blizzard in Xenia in 1950, no hurricane. Hurricanes in Ohio are as rare as hen's teeth.

USS Breckenridge 176! I sail on her across the Pacific from Japan - Pearl Harbor - San Francisco in 1964 as a child! WOW!

My error. at 6: 32 the slide was scanned backwards. I cannot correct it without losing its place in my line up.
reply

Someone screwed up big time concerning a snow scene and the title Xenia, Ohio after the hurricane 1950. LOL!
reply

Please refrain from using the Lord’s name in vain on the photo caption. Very unnecessary and wrong. Thank you.

Not Glen Cove, Bayville Beach, not Cadillac Girls, they're sitting on a Corvette, and a few more whoopsie's

I prefer it when men try to look like women and women try to look like men, I prefer purple hair and ear gauges

Hmm. Something is fishy 4: 46. Look thru the window and you can see a Mercury Station Wagon from the 80's.

We were the envy of the world. Where did it all go wrong Probably with Teddy Kennedy and Jacob Javits.
