The actual fighting in the Korean War stopped in July of 1953. An armistice between the UN Forces led by the United States and the communist forces of North Korea and, Red China led to a decades long cease fire that is in effect up till this very day. Technically the Korean War never ended because no peace treaty was ever signed between the warring nations and North Korea has never officially recognized South Korea's right to exist as a separate nation.

My family had friends who lived in Tuolumne County, California, in the Sierra foothills, and this family’s home had been built around a giant sequoia and the toilet paper hanger was attached to the tree. The people at 3: 20 living _in_ a tree caused this 50 year old memory to suddenly resurface.

Richard lasher was an idiot. The eruption wasn’t a surprise. Evacuations began weeks before the eruption. People were risking their lives to get people like him out. The governor, a nuclear physicist, had zones mapped out in record time and huge amounts of resources were wasted on these people

It's uncomfortable being on the subway at rush hour here in Boston, but Japan having workers jamming people into them is a little too extreme for me.
