What Was George Washington's Private Life Like?

During the American Revolution, newspapers printed sensational stories about George Washington's affairs. An enslaved woman named Venus claimed George fathered her son. And years after his passing, a racy love letter written to a married woman threatened to destroy George's sterling reputation. But what was Washington's private life really like? Was he as virtuous as his reputation? And what about George Washington's children - is it true the man died without ever fathering one?

I should have known anyone that refers to themself as weird history should be taken with a grain of salt. Read a real history book and not this half assed stuff. You can also go to Founders online and find thousands of letters he wroted during his lifetime. He was a prolific writer. You can also find letters written by other historical figures. Washington did not have a personal sleep partner he shared the same bed with his wife until he died. Then she closed up the room after his death and used another room to sleep in. Venus was the slave on his brother. West was born on Bushfield Plantation 100 miles away from Mt Vernon. West Ford was born anywhere from March of 1783 to June of 1784 at Bushfield plantation. There is no way that GW fathered that child. He was fighting in the war and did not return home to Mt Vernon until Dec 24, 1783 at which point West was already most likley born or born a few months after GW returned home. Bushrod, GW's nephew is highly likely to be the father. Bushrod and West look remarkably alike. Also, Martha had four kids in 8 years in her first marriage. She had no problems conceiving or bringing a baby to full term. Her last pregnancy was uneventful. There was no post partum infection or hemorrhaging. She was a fertile myrtle. GW on the other hand had several illnesses when he was younger and prior to getting married. All of them could cause infertility in men. It was most likely a tuberculosis epididymis that caused his infertility. Two years before he was married his doctor told him that GW showed signs of decay which was a term used for tuberculosis back then. He exhibited classic symptoms of this. He also had small pox, malaria and measles, all capible of rendering a man infertile.

I love LOVE your work but why the hate for Martha? She wasn't really a big pain in the ass like some think. She kept George grounded and supported him wholeheartedly. Her upbringing was new to George, but records show he was fiercely protective and doting on her n her kids as well. Was he perfect? Of course not, but they both knew the roles they were playing in history and they did an awesome job

I love history with a passion I love history education and in WWE wrestling when our truth was dressed as a slave soldier he had mentioned Richmond Virginia the capital of the Confederacy and don't think good about Confederacy was secession and nothing good came out of the South and Stone Cold Steve Austin said that was a hundred and some years ago what's that got to do with today!

I understand that someone else had the flag made as there is a receipt for the payment.
Washington tried to get Martha's slave to come back but she decided to keep her freedom. In the end he set up a trap for her in which she would meet someone who would capture her and she would be returned to Martha. But the ex-slave had grown suspicious and refused to go to the meeting.

This should be titled - The Poor Condition of US Educational System. None of this information is hidden; Fairfax was his best friend and his wife was one of the few people Washington knew - there's more reasonable conjecture concerning his amorous activities in the Bahamas, West Ford was almost as believable as the British conspiracies, etc. Read a book.

1: 53-1: 55 Promixity to POWER! Still doing that today's in our society. Just look at Steve Harvey's wife. Meghan McCains dad left his first wife for his second one cause she was an heir to the Anheuser-Busch distribution co. He wanted power and run for political offices and he didn't care how he he got it. His second wife was the Golden Ticket.

Another fun fact, we know very little about the relationship between Washington and his wife because he instructed her to burn their letters. He knew he was involved in something that would be important to history and didn't want his personal life known along with it.

The marijuana plant really only becomes hemp once it starts to go little balls on it which are seed sacks im almost positive and if you keep the male plant around other plants that aint males they can turn them plants into males Washington probably smoked some weed

You didn't mention that the story of Washington chopping down the cherry tree was made up after his death. In fact you referred to it at the beginning of your video thereby echoing it as authentic. Weird.

What Weird Histpry said about the hemp isn't true. The harvest notes proved that they were aware of what was more potent and they kept it for smoking. This video is a lie and false history.

I love learning about the imperfections of our great presidents. President Washington, Kennedy, Lincoln, President Trump et al. Absolutely great and amazing presidents but so far from perfect.
reply

George Washington he was only human and no one perfect! I mean give him a break he helped find and fought in the American revolution war and he was president of this once great country.

I'm sure his slaves were very lucky, and had a good life compared to would have been had they stayed what some would call free in Africa as primitive as Africans were.
reply

If you intended to disparage Washingtons reputation you succeed.
So much you reveal is
rumor or here say yet you
publish it anyway as though it is factual.

The date stated here might be wrong but how could in 01/01/1881 Martha Washington set all of George Washington slaves free if Lincoln officially freed slavery in 1865
