Few exploits of the 20th century could match the courage and perseverance of the Shackleton expedition. Ernest Shackleton became the ultimate model for crisis management when his ill-fated 1914 Antarctic expedition met with disaster. His ship, the Endurance, was stranded amidst the expanding ice floes of the South Atlantic. Initially forced to abandon the vessel (which would eventually sink as a result of the hull being crushed by pack ice, Shackleton established a series of temporary camps on the ice, in the hopes that his party would eventually drift closer to civilization. When this failed, Shackleton was forced to abandon most of his group on remote Elephant Island and attempt a 700-nautical mile journey to the populated outpost of South Georgia Island

Has the movie been made about this yet. I watched the documentary. I think it was on Netflix. I dont remember. However I remember this story because its extremely difficult to forget something like this. Has an actual movie made about this film? And if so, how can I missed it?

In Charlestown part of St. Austell i England there is a spe cial exhebition regarding Shackleton's journey to Antartica in the outstanding shipwreak museum lasting until October 2022, worth to see. I admire him since first I have heard his story in Ushuaia Patagonia.

This is a great video, but it doesnt even come close to depicting the hardships these men endured. Imagine being starved, completely soaked in ice water, in sub zero temperatures and sleep deprived for a year straight

Shackleton and his men had superhuman resolve to get through all those obstacles to save the rest. I can't even imagine my going through even a small fraction of their suffering without losing my mind.

My father's best friend was Frank Wild's great nephew. Had the chance to see a few trinkets from the voyage. Incredible story of resilience. They don't make them like they used to!

Considering what these men went through, just imagine what they might feel if they saw the intire modern civilization crippled with fear over a flu!

Wow what a survivor! I never heard of this man before. I take my hat off for these brave men exploring the most dangerous parts of this planet.

I don't know how these men did stuff like this. If my internet goes down for more than 20 minutes I start losing my mind.

An incredible survival story but what was the point of the trip again? They also did all that with a war going on?

Shackelton did not just have a 'stiff upper lip', he had a frozen jaw! I read about him recently, very impressed.

They've just found the Endurance underneath the ice in Antarctica in pretty decent condition about a week ago!
