The Reign of Terror destroyed thousands of lives, but in the scientific community, Antoine Lavoisier's death was arguably the most devastating. Known for revolutionizing chemistry and conducting groundbreaking experiments during the Enlightenment, Lavoisier's aristocratic status eventually condemned him. Lavoisier and his wife, Marie-Anne, worked together as the father and mother of modern chemistry, designing and carrying out experiments. Together, they built an international reputation

It is because of incidents like this that caused George Washington to try to dissuade Thomas Payne from going to france to join in the revolution. That is and interesting story that should be covered here, and the differences between them.

It's a shame that Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier was executed, but at least Marie-Anne Paulze Lavoisier survived to promote their work. Still, the death of a scientist is more tragic than that of a king.

Some people today. Think that age is just a number. And these people are gaining influence. You know when we made the memes about rejecting modernity in brace tradition this was not what we meant.

This is why people who want a revolution don't get, revolutions are not a beacon of change. They bring out the worst in people and many innocents die.

This was really interesting! Im half French and I did not know this story. Really wonderful information. Ps- thanks for pronouncing LaVoisier correctly!

May Anne's retaining Lavoisier's surname even after divorcing Benjamin Thompson only proves her love and devotion to her first husband

That's the problem with mobs: they don't care that you've invented something that could make their lives better.

And this is why you don't kill people over money and also why you don't create inequality and shitty class systems.

Hmm. Now science & mathematics are under attack as being imbued with cultural, western imperialist white racism.
