Crematories do not permit the family or friends of a deceased person to watch their cremation, nor will they even make a video or still photos of it for them. So the bereaved ones get no guarantee that the bone fragments returned to them later are really from their loved one -- they are expected to just have faith that they are not getting someone else's remains. The same is also true for cremations of animal companions by pet cemeteries -- a few years ago i discussed this situation with a pet cemetery worker while trying to decide on burial or cremation for one of my cats; also my neighbor quit having cremations of her beloved dogs after finding out some just returned random remains. For some reason that I don't understand, laws forbid any witnesses -- except crematory employees of course. This doesn't seem fair to me. After all, before a burial, you are allow to see the body. Why not be able to watch the cremation process, bone crushing, and placement of the fragments into an urn or box with a clear label of the person's name? It may sound gruesome, but it does reassure the bereaved ones that they will not just get some random ashes back.

Egypt. Guess they didn't leave recipes on how to embalm. They did that thousands of years ago. Interesting though. I die. I am dead. Whatever. There are people walking around that are alive. and. don't know the meaning of taking a shower or use modern embalmment called soap and deodorant, or wash their clothes. Which sadly I have to say are old folks, in their 80's and so forth, that have family. and those family members don't give a shit. We got this one gentleman, 83. he has wounds, blisters, and rashes. doesn't shower or is afraid too. no belt to keep his pants up, revealing his yellow underwear. he comes in holding his pants up and the stench is bad. Which we don't worry much about, but his condition. We know he has family here. We can't do anything about it. It is so sad, that not his odor but the neglect by his family makes us tear up. Really sad.

this embalming business in the US is just disgusting. I had never heard of this before I moved to the US. You should give back to the environment by becoming part of the earth not having your body pumped full with chemicals that are bad for the environment. using Formaldehyde? really? very selfish!

It doesn't matter what the subject is this narrator is the best of the best. I watch every one just to listen to his voice and yes sometimes I learn something. Keep up the great job and protect that voice and all the extra comments which the videos special.

Dead people do NOT look like they did before dying. Their face looses ALL color. That's why dead bodies wear such heavy make up. It makes them look less dead but also less like themselves. The face is essentially a canvas to paint a face on.

Plain. I dont want embalmed, cut up, sewn together, glued, stuffed, nothing. Just a pine box, a hole in the ground, and a wooden cross unmarked. When I die I want to be buried and forgotten about by everyone.

I cant help but wonder if he would have survived with the knowledge and technology of today. Considering he lived for a while after he was shot, I think he could have.

Cremation, brief service, no crying. Why cry when the person is no longer suffering, a few tears will be ok for the fact that I won't be around anymore. But, death is part of life.
