Major Disasters That Changed History

video description

Rating: 4.5; Vote: 2
Human history has, to a remarkable extent, been shaped by natural disasters. Whether it s volcanic eruptions or floods, plague or environmental devastation caused by human activity, human life has proven to be both remarkably precarious and, paradoxically, remarkably resilient. Some natural disasters have come dangerously close to ending the world as humanity has known it but, somehow, people continue on, working to rebuild the damaged world left behind. Strangely enough, natural disasters can end up influencing history in some strange and unexpected ways.

Natural disasters seem to inspire literature. During 1816, The Year Without a Summer, what was supposed to be relaxing getaway for Percy and Mary Shelley at Lord Byron's chalet in Switzerland turned out to be cold, gray, and rainy. What else was there to do but sit around the fire and make up horror stories? Mary Shelley composed Frankenstein.
For Giovanni Bocaccio, the Black Death became the background for a series of short stories called The Decameron. It inspired Chaucer to try the Canterbury Tales.

I am terribly sorry to say but unfortunately this narrator does not have a very pleasing voice. I enjoy the content immensely but not to the narrator. And that does make a huge difference because in all honesty I do not want to finish this because the guy's voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
reply

Frankly, Major Disasters that did NOT Change History would be more interesting.
lol
PS: This new guys' voice is not QUITE nasally, whiny or snarky sounding enough. (jk)
Really, though he sounds like everyone's 'favorite' watercooler-workmate, Well, ACTUALLY. b-hole.

reply

To everyone complaining about the normal host not doing the voiceovers. Ever think the original guy might be on a vacation or taking some time off?
I hope your employer forces you to work 52 weeks a year without any time off, lol. You probably wouldn't like it.

2: 50 There was the spinning hands on the clock on the clock tower in the film The Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014.
It was the last of the first five recent Spider-Man films I watched in a row, watched it last night on Thanksgiving.

We know that the 'official' historical narrative that we've been indoctrinated with is false. One must also consider how many of these 'disasters' were psy-ops or even real. The Black Death strikes me as a depopulation method.

Interesting. Some times good things do come out of tragedy. I am, however, disappointed that you did not include the 1900 Hurricane that destroyed Galveston, Texas, and the rebuilding of that island city into what it is today.

The building where the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire took place is now part of New York University. I took classes in that building from 1984 to 1987. And I didn't find out about the connection until maybe my second year there.
reply

Oh, not this guy again. I like the usual narrator's voice & delivery style so much better. Maybe next time. Also, it's the Johnstown flood- not Johnston flood. The town is Johnstown. I an hour away.

1: 50 That mass of skeletons in the background reminds me of the film Army of Darkness (1992.
They should make an Army Of Darkness film where Ash is sent back to this time.

The previous narrator had a delightful, warm, sarcastic tone that made horrific, historical stories enjoyable to listen to. Proof that casting the correct voice actor does matter.

One in glad you didn't talk about because of how sad it is
. why doors leading out of buildings open out.
It unfortunately involves hundreds of kids and a human crush

This new guy does not have a good narration voice. And he is NOT funny. Please find someone else. Added: and some of his comments are cruel and downright offensive.
reply

To all of of the special ones commenting the same old thing about the narrator, how about y all start a comment daisy chain and jerk off there? It is annoying.
reply

0: 06 Reminds me of the covering of Pompeii by Mount Vesuvius (which is a Weird History video.
That happened in 79 AD and I was born in '79 (1979.

reply

Wow this narrator has the most annoying voice, could not watch the whole video. What's wrong? Gilbert Godfried or Bobcat Goldwait were not available?
reply

0: 02 That reminds me of the film Twister (1996.
It was released on May 10th, 1996, exactly two years before my high school graduation.

reply

I don't really care if you bring the other narrator back, but this one is just aweful. That voice is Top #10 Most Anoying Sounds material
reply

The narrator has good diction, but he seems to lack comedic timing or delivery. Maybe he can ask the previous narrator for cues
