Unusual Facts You Never Knew About Queen Victoria

Just as the Victorian era is incorrectly portrayed as a period of demureness, misconceptions about the British monarchy specifically, Queen Victoria are equally persistent. In reality, crazy stories about the royal family abound from Victoria's court, the most well-known of which typically have to do with the standards Victoria set for Victorian mourning customs. However, despite accounts of her puritanical tendencies, Victoria was actually quite fond of sex and had a deep appreciation for the naked human form. Even the contents of her grave the things she wanted to be interred with for eternity had some highly sexual overtones that spoke to the question of what sex was like during the Victorian era

Will people ever understand that life expectancy doesnt mean most people lived till that age only? Life expectancy is a mean of all life expectancies, and the main reason for life expectancy being that low in the past is because of rampant infant and child deaths. If one person dies at 3 and another at 70, the life expectancy for my cohort will be 36 years old. If both survive childhood and die at 65 then life expectancy will be 65. People had 5 and more children in order to ensure that at least one or two will survive past childhood. On the other hand, if one survived infancy and childhood they had a normal life expectancy and people living till their 60s/70s/80s wasnt at all uncommon.

Your photo is of the future Alexander III and his Danish fiancee. Neither had or carried hemophilia.
Your photo when describing Q. Philippa is of Empress Elizabeth of Austria-Hungary about 400 years later. Almost everything you recited is pretty common knowledge. Victoria was a bizarre person even for her time. I doubt that most of us would find her company at all pleasant or desirable. Her portraits were VERY flattering. One of the things that many actually don't know is that she had a German accent. It was slight but voice coaches were hired to try to completely rid her of it. She required that at least one recording of her voice be destroyed. Too bad.

Elizabeth II once said that she couldn't understand what the Feminist movement was about, as she never found being a woman a deterrent to doing her job. Well, ER II was a 20th-21st century Monarch with access to reliable birth control, and a populace who were becoming open to women in leadership positions, in part due to women holding men's jobs during WW II. Victoria was a product of the 18th century. Birth control almost nonexistent, women constrained to ridiculous costumes reined in by tight lacing. At least she had nannies and nursery maids, among other servants. Elizabeth I had even less. So, small wonder she chose to go it alone.

I think my Mom might be Queen Victoria DNA connected through Royal lines some how. I thought i was due to my nose & similar looks but her & my mother are so identical which is very strange & my Mother had all this victorian type art aswell. When I feel Victorias energy I see my Mother which is extremely strange! The more ascension happens the more I feel energy connections. Strange stuff this ascension business! I didn't think we where this close to this line through our Pedigree record. I keep coming back to Victoria for some reason in energy. Idk

Ok, quick correction to this video.
Queen Victoria's daughter, Alice, wasn't Prince Philip's mother. Victoria's daughter was Princess Alice, Grand Duchess of Hesse by Rhine. Prince Philip's mother was Princess Alice of Battenberg (aka Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark); who, herself, was the great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria.
I knew those dates/familial titles were off. If Philip had only been a grandson of Victoria, that would mean that he was over 300 years old when he died this year

Nice to know she was very creative with her dolls growing up. From my collection of ABJD's, my custom designed Peter Capaldi minimee, customized as the 12th Doctor, will meet Jenna Coleman at HDCC in November this year, unless she has to cancel due to work obligations. I will try to remember to tell her Queen Victoria had many dolls she dressed up herself if she asks about him.

Is there a reason, in this day and age, the nipples on all the classical paintings are blacked out? Preeeety sure we've all seen far more improper body parts (the penis on the Statue of David, for example, these glaring black squares entirely ruin the beauty of the classical paintings shown. Fire your art director for this idiotic move!

Queen Victoria looks as cruel and sour as her hard rule.
Power in profiteering from land grabbing in competition with other Emperialist pursuit.
Those beneath you, bowed and curtsied, or starved outside your gates of power.
Wonderful Humanity not.

In her day women died in childbirth. Royal family's where inbred and expected to produce many children even if it killed them. After her husband died she became infatuated with a Indian man who taught her about his native land

Queen Victoria's first language was German. She learned English as a second language. Her husband's first language was also German. In the 1881 census Buckingham palace has other German speakers staying with her.

She never looked lively in any of her pictures, not even the portraits in her youth, but there's something about her eyes in the photos after Albert died. Gosh.

3: 03 if you mean that Princess Alice was prince Philip Mountbattens mom, thats the wrong princess Alice. That is an entirely diff PA. Gotta get that right: )

I learned a lot about Albert and Vic so this wont be weird for me. Glad you mentioned right off the bat how hot she was for Alberts bod LOL. Not surprising!
reply

There are also passages from Victoria's journals where she lovingly describes watching Albert shave, and when he puts on her stockings for her.

I love this video, but there is a little mistake. In 7: 45 should be Philippa of Hainault, but the picture shows empress Elisabeth of Austria.

Strange the brittish never mention the millions that UK killed during her reign. Africa, India etc. UK have the bloodiest hands of all nations.
reply

I just love Queen Victoria. Pure drama queen pardon the pun always strong in her opinions and mourning her love painfully. Plus loved a shag
reply

The picture you used of Queen Philippa is actually Elisabeth of Bavaria, the Empress of Austria-Hungary as wife to Emperor Franz-Joseph.

3: 02 was Princess Alice ( The mother of Prince Philip) really the daughter of Queen Victoria or was she a granddaughter?
