The Great Depression was far more depressing than it was great, and like any national crisis worth its salt, it took its toll on everyone’s sexual relationships. Millions were suffering under catastrophic economic conditions, so dating wasn’t really on anyone’s mind. In fact, as a result of all the turmoil and strife, sexual attitudes of the era changed dramatically in some surprising ways, and not always for the better. According to my grandmother, born in 1920 and growing up in rural Canada, dating pretty much entirely consisted of attending social dances in your area, usually alongside family, and meeting new people there. This is apparently how her parents met, and in turn is how she met my grandfather (who was, in her words, a friend of my brother. Married at 22 before he shipped out for WW2 for 4 years. Then stayed together until he passed in his 70s, while she is still with us, happily single since then.
AKA it's pretty much the same thing as today, adjusted for vintage.

For a video focused on History i find it bit of a shame that there isnt used more historical photos from the same period that the whole video is about. Like showing women with a mobil phone or just an overreliance of modern stock photoage. To me thats a drop in quality compared to older Weird History.

1: 18 Hobos were migrant workers during the Great Depression.
They had their own culture and were a short period of fascination for the American public.
There were even popular fictional books about them.

I think in the 2020s we’re going through a depression as well with high rates of unemployment amongst youth and what not so we’ve got a lot of modern equivalent for what they did back in the 30s

I don’t think there were many interracial marriages during the 20s/30s, especially an interracial marriage where the man has a septum piercing.

Sounds like Americans were more liberated during the Great Depression than the 40s and 50s. Why did society regressed in these two decades

To go from fewer kids to creating the largest population growth since mass immigration in the 1800's. (aka the boomers) is quite a feat.

Wrong, the Great Depression did not end in 1939. It ended when the US entered World War II and needed to step up production
