Many of the medical treatments done in the past usually had some basis in truth.
We forget, that Aspirin is from the bark of the willow tree. Used for pain and fevers.
The leaves of the poisonous Foxglove plant, was used to treat cardiac issues, such as Dropsy [congestive heart failure]. and is basis for medication Digoxin a heart medication

Some of these I can understand given the lack of scientific knowledge of that time, like, smoking for asthma which they probably thought would smoke out whatever was causing the asthma (in the same way you can smoke out bugs in your house. But what was the rationale behind things like eating dog and camel poop?

My great-great and triple great grandfathers both died from mercury poisoning, while being treated for RA. My father has RA, and thankfully treatment has dramatically improved. I keep in a cabinet, just for being umm, backed up. Faster then pills. Not recommended for those that may become addicted, of course.

How about some modern catastrophic meds? Bisphosphonates (thigh fractures, fossy jaw. . Or statins? Muscle damage, global amnesia, type 2 diabetes? Thalidomide? Birth defects.
On a positive note: Viagra may save the tiger and rhinoceros - and it works!

Most of these practices were just bc humans didnt know any better atthat time, but lobotomy was a hatred towards anyone different from the norm, so they cured them by deliberately destroying their brain. Actual evil shit

We have a hernial tree down Glastonbury way. It's a tree with a hole in it that you squeeze through and it's supposed to cure your hernial. It's more likely to give, rather than cure it, mind.

On note about pee as antiseptic: . It actually is a great sanitizer while it's still warm and fresh. It's once it cools down that it becomes useless. Same from drinking it.

I just think our ancestors were insane using mice and hot pokers and mercury for medical needs and as for radium it's a wonder that they didn't get super powers
