If people are alright with changes to the original source the movie adaption is based off of which gives major importance, I'm sure they shouldn't give a damn about who the hell plays the character! If they play the role, they deserve it! And besides, the cinematic universe is its own universe from the comic book counterparts, so things will be different, it's just the blatant attributes that make a character will stay to certain extent. We can have an Asian Superman but shouldn't matter as long as he's Kryptonian. We can have an Black Wonder Woman but shouldn't matter as long as she's Amazonian. Diversity shouldn't be an issue, especially which history depriving the chances to have made diversity of comic book characters' races due to racial disputes of the real world. All in all, whoever can just do things great and amazingly well should not have to be judged by who they are in terms of appearance, but what they do, and that is how real world heroes are seen.

I am an extreme AquaFan amd I can tell you that I am very excited about Jason Momoa play my favorite superhero. See if anyone has read Aquaman in the new 52, they would see that Aquaman isn't the lame fish talking, riding a sea horse blonde yuppie that the Super Friends cartoon turned him into. That show made him into the biggest punchline of comics. Heck, I think that because of that, Marvel put Namor under a proverbial rock so he wouldn't catch the same flack. Anyways, since Zack Snyder cast Momoa, it shows me as an AquaFan that he is indeed taking this character and the DC movie universe that he's trying to create seriously. P. S I don't care what anyone says, I think Ben Afleck will be an awesome Batman. He has to be better than the -sounding like he smoked 40 packs a day and always ruining the true character of Batman- Chritian Bale. But that's my opinion so calm down all you Bale lovers.

Shouldn't Aquaman be whatever race Atlanteans were genealogically closest to? I'm guessing more like ancient Greeks than anything else. So as long as he looks like someone who could be from the ancient Mediterranean I think he fits. Though that does in retrospect make Aryan Aquaman seem a bit off.
Still though, Jason Momoa gives a very powerful performance as someone in command, as shown in Game of Thrones where he played he played Drogo. And also he's just a really cool guy in general, from what I've heard from the rest of the cast that have had to work with him.

I agree that this is a good way to explore existing material and reflect the deeper changes in society. And as the saying goes: -They haven-t done anything to my books. They-re still right there on the shelf. -
I'm precious about the original Star Wars movies (GREEDO) and detest the prequels. Nevertheless, I'm open to waiting to see Abrams's take before I start the hatin'. Change is good, change is bad; only dead things swim downstream.

It is high time that entertainment showed the true diversity that is the human race. I want to see Idris Alba as James Bond. I hated the versions of DragonBall and the Last Airbender because seriously; can we at least have some of the characters in these shows have some kind of Asian connection.

I'm OK with Aquaman as a Pacific islander, makes sense but you brought up the Black Johnny Storm which again no problem with, but why isn't Susan Storm black? Or even half black? Aren't they suppose to siblings? If you are going change a races at least do it right is all I'm asking.

I can't really picture Aquaman without blonde hair. That is just apart of his suit. Taking away the blonde hair from Aquaman is like taking the pointed ears off the batman mask

Isn't it an option to die a persons hair blonde? FYI. There has been a black version of Nick Fury in the comics, so that wasn't creative casting. I love Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.
