this is utter nonsense. shoes wont help you break records. one guy ran marathon barefoot with 2 hours 6 minutes more than 25 to 30 years ago. so the ability of the runner decides the timing and not the shoes. I am sure that same guy today would breach 2 hour, with better training and diet. And BAREFOOT!
kip is a great runner shoes or not. he trains at high altitude(8500 feet. that is lot of height, so naturally you have advantage when you run at sea-level or nearby.
he is promoting as he has sponsorship. inherently he knows they dont make him the greatest.
barring cushioning rest is all pure gimmick.
THE KENYANS, UGANDANS, SOMALIANS ETC ETC are great runners due to their training and approach to the game: just like swedes churned out tennis players like nothing happens.
And spain produced clay champions( can anybody beat nadal. And out of nowhere you have a SERB MACHINE called JOKO!
BOLT would run under 10 even without shoes on those world class smooth fibre track! shoes hardly matter there.
because marathons are run on those roads, the pounding is a huge issue. Hence a thick and flexible shoes is all you need.
there is no need to go gaga and shelve 250 to 500 bucks for the shoes.
MOFOS just run. any shoe would do with decent cushioning!
I just ran 23 kms other day in 2 hours( for the first time in my life at 46 with low budget shoes, I was not thinking about shoes! I just ran like a hungry DOG! And made it!
SO BOTTOM LINE: it is not the size of the dog in a fight that counts. it is size of the fight in the dog that counts!
AKA it i not the shoe of the runner that counts. it is runner of the shoes that counts!
now get the eff out of here!

It's funny but I thought I saw a man Eliud Kipchoge cross the finish line not a pair of shoes, now I'm no genius but tell me if I'm wrong? It's pretty absurd NIKE making the claim that they cracked the two hour marathon when it was one man who ran the marathon in under two hours. If it were truly the shoes that got the man the under two hour record why didn't the rest of the runners wearing those shoes come in under the two hour mark as well? NIKE may make a good running shoe but it takes a lot more then just a shoe to run a marathon.

Jeepers. I could have designed a better wind shield than that - an electric vehicle, low to ground, and big huge plexi-glass wind shield. Kipchoge could have run in a cocoon vacuum and maybe broke 1hr55. Let me design the --science- next time. Since it is not a race, the runners as pacers and shield is wholly superfluous.

Congrats on pulling off one of the great scams in running history. The chances he did this without blood doping are one in 10million. 4: 30 miles x 26. Give me a break. How many people can run 10k in that clip? And you expect me to believe he did this for 41. 2k!

I feel like we are pegging too much science on kipchoge's win to discredit him. Why is no one talking about kipchoge's shear will, 6 month's practice and the power of mind over matter?

Kiptoge is going to break the 2 hour mark in one of the next official marathons. to make it official. its the man. not the shoe that did it. unless he gets injured

It-s 4% more efficient, not 4% faster. That means it-s easier to run at a set pace, so you go faster for the same effort.

Everyone's so worried about the shoe being a beast but maybe the real beast here was just Kipchoge. O_O

It was not a company that broke this record, but a man. Trash title doesn't credit the man behind the record.
