I think it's really awesome of wired to give these real people platform to talk about their profession and show them how it really is compared to movies.
Alternatively I think the movie should do a better job at representing things that happen in real life. Movies are meant to pull us out of reality and give us something bigger and more spectacular to look at but I think it's also their job too show how it's really done as much as possible

So, next time I kill I must remember to strangle and take the bodies with me to a secondary location? No blood, no body, no crime. As long as the police and forensic folk don't find anything within 46 minutes for TV or upwards of 2. 5 hours for a movie, I'll get away with it right? Except for Columbo. That guy never quits.
BTW, no Columbo scene? RIP Peter Falk.

I personally really don't like how this is edited. Constantly cutting between the scenes and him talking every half a second at times is really unnecessary. Just play the entire scene and then let him talk. The way Insider and Vanity Fair edits their movie/tv analysis videos are much nicer to watch. Maybe it's just me. Still this was really interesting.

The ShotSpotter company he mentions at 19: 10 is actually extremely problematic and unreliable. An employee with the company admitted that their -97% accuracy- claim was concocted by their marketing team and not the engineers. They can also manually alter the data and will do so at the request of police departments to fit their narratives.

I know that both St. Paul and Minneapolis cites in Minnesota have the Shot spotter! 91 Homicides so far and only a couple people have been Jailed! Heck There were body parts scattered across the Cites that Still has in No way been Explained to the Public! The News agencies shut up pretty fast about all the body parts!

Imagine getting into this field because of what you see on tv. Spending all that money and time in school and studying thinking you will get to use crazy 3D imaging and robots. Then you get a job and your most hightech piece of equipment is the fancy case that holds your rubber gloves and various sprays.

As someone who was born and raised on a farm, I can definitely say that you can tell the difference between human, carnivore, herbivore and avian excrement. By smell, look, and by the texture of what is left behind. Anyone who has stepped in dog, duck and cow poo can tell the difference between them! --

3000 degrees is not enough to instantly vaporize someone. Heat is not a temperature, it is energy. The atomic bombs on Japan had the energy to vaporize people instantly and that is hotter or at least as hot as the surface of the sun.
Steel melts at 2500 degrees and it isn't instant.

clearly that guy is an expert in his field but i believe he made one error - on the Zodiak crime scene they wouldn; t bother about DNA, he was killing in late 60's and early 70's and DNA was first used in crime investigation in 86' i think

-How To Get Away With Murder- seems like it doesn't portray anything with any legitimacy at all. I saw a real lawyer (LegalEagle) also tear into that show and basically claim the main lawyer would be disbarred in a heartbeat.
