Mr.
when a helo goes down in water, the majority of helos will invert because thje engine will have failed causing itb top invert. or go upside down before it meets the water. The death hatch is small. . So with 25 Jarheads in full combat dress would attempt to exit. ads the helo sinks lat 10 meters a second before the cabin is fully flooded. When full. the helo will have sank to a depth of about 200 tro 300 feet. That example happened of Pt. Loma back in the 90's and sank to a depth of about 3, 000 feet. All of the crew and Infantryman perished. maybe a few lived. I wonder if the civilians telling us how to survive has ever been on a Sea Knight? The samething happened in Oki when I was stationed there in 1988. Theory is perfect. death does not function know theory.

I am extremely surprised that you make no mention of the wearing and use of the HEEDS bottle by aircrew and passengers in helicopter overwater operations!
The HEEDS (Helicopter Emergency Egress Device) is a miniature sub-aqua tank, regulator and mouthpiece which is worn in its own holster on the outside of the aircrew and passengers survival suits.
In the event that the escapee feels the need for more air they simply place the mouthpiece of the HEEDS bottle into their mouth.
Aircrew and passengers feel reassured and are more confident in the knowledge that they have their own personal oxygen supply.
HEEDS are also known as Spare Air, the creator of these superb devices which are also used by divers, kayakers and watersports participants.

Mrs Richards: - I paid for a room with a view! -
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) -That is Torquay, Madam. -
Mrs Richards: -It's not good enough! -
Basil: -May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past. -
Mrs Richards: -Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea! -
Basil: -You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky. -
Mrs Richards: -I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction. -
Basil: -Why! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?

USAF does the same training, but without a contractor conducting the training. This is TELLING! More military funds go to contractors than to the service members themselves! So when you see stuff like this, understand this is partly the reason why the Defense budget is so Large, and our military ranks are so bloody small right now! Most of the money our Congress appropriates does NOT go to the troops!

With small aircraft, I was once told that it is recommended, just before the moment of impact, to open the door that is next to you, by just a small crack. This guarantees that, if the shape of the airframe becomes distorted during the crash, the door can't end-up being jammed shut (which would eliminate the option to exit the aircraft via the door)

Look I'm glad this is a training. now when it comes to helicopter crash is a small chance of surviving. On top of that don't you think on a impact or an accident crash on water is not gonna fall into water slowly. remember the water is also as a concrete. Try a belly floop on the water. Yeah. Go get my drift now.

All offshore Gas and Oil Platform workers have to go through this every 4 years.
It has got worse over the years with more of a requirement to do multiple drops.
I have been in the 'mock up' and some people panic and struggle to get out but there are divers there to assist.

The color lost of red is very true for shallow depth. Loses in the ROY G. BIV order Red orange and yellow go quickly especially if light is obscured in water. Safety handles need not only to be red but have some white, with glow in the dark substance on it to help illuminate it.

Completing this training is mandatory also for all personnel working offshore on oil and gas installations on the Norwegian continental shelf. Every fourth year we have to renew our certificate. I hate it more and more for every time I have to do it.
