The weird gatekeeping in some of these questions is hilarious.
Particularly the one about putting milk and sugar in coffee or tea. I drink lattes and cappuccinos mostly, and it's definitely not because I don't know how to enjoy espresso. I love espresso, americano and other milkless drinks. I never use sugar, but so what if you do?
It's not other people who need to learn how to like other things, it's you who need to learn that you simply don't like milk in coffee. and that's ok.
I obviously don't mean James, he's a gem. That question just made my brain stall.

To expand on the various types of cafe drinks. They're all made with espresso and milk. What varies for all of the drinks is how much and what kind of milk you add. There's basically two kinds of milk, steamed milk that's mostly a liquid, and milk foam. The different coffee drinks are just ways of designating how much liquid milk and milk foam you want in your coffee. A cappuccino is 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, 1/3 milk foam. A latte is 1/3 espresso, 2/3 steamed milk (so basically no milk foam. A flat white is 1/2 espresso, 1/2 steamed milk.

The tweet at 1: 06 completely forgoes James's conclusion.
James So while there might be less caffeine per [dark roasted] bean, I'd be using more beans. And so ultimately, the amount of caffeine will vary a lot more by the type of coffee being roasted, whether it's an Arabica or a Robusta, whether it's high grown or low grown. The roast itself is not something you really need to worry about.
Tweet Light beans actually have more caffeine than dark beans. The amount of caffeine is dependent on the way the coffee is roasted.

A highly speculative history of coffee
- humans had been eating coffee fruit for a long time
- they decide to keep the seed to replant
- desperate they try to eat the seeds when food is low, but they are hard
- they try to cook them in order to make them more edible, still kinda crunchy though
- soaking them in cold water makes them easy to chew
- but hot water makes them soften quicker
- don't throw away that water, it tastes fantastic!

James is the best! One of my favourite things about him is, and you ll know this if you watch his videos - he will tell you how to brew your coffee, but he ll then tell you to do what you enjoy. Everything he does is just a suggestion he just wants us to enjoy our coffee

Entertaining and educational, as always. Thanks James! WRT tea and sugar/milk, if you haven't had black tea with condensed milk yet, it's a treat. Common in Yemen and Pakistan, and sometimes includes spices like cardamom and clove.

Flat whites have been an antipodean thing for as long as I can recall - my mothers go to coffee. It seems a very recent thing that it has spread beyond our borders (whether it was us or the kiwis.

Thank you very much for this video. As someone who consumes Turkish and instant coffee mostly, I found Irish coffee horrible, to the point that I had to wash it away with a double espesso: D

I don't even drink coffee (extremely caffeine sensitive and don't enjoy the taste enough to seek decaf) yet I can't stop watching James's videos. They're just that good. Great video!

Finally, I can refer my friends to this video when they ask me to expound on the nuances of coffee on which they expect a guy with a mocha pot to be willingly conversant.

For those who have no insight into the coffee world, James is the coffee equivalent of:
Tom Brady
Tiger Woods
Michael Phelps
Serena Williams
A goat

Sorry James, but Larry David would like a word with you regarding the right temp to drink coffee. If it doesn't pass the nose test, it ain't good enough to drink.
