You talk about finding a cardinal direction and mention cresent moons, moss, snow on mountains, and the ways trees bend. but you don't mention sun rising in the east, setting in the west, and (in the northern hemisphere) being closer to the south in the winter and to the north in the summer How often do we see the sun rise or set How often do we see cresent moons or snow on mountains You're missing the best ways to find out the directions.

How to start a fire
Well, you can use a synthetic material.
And just how is that relevant for survivalism in the wild
Or you can take juniper bark. I happen to have a bunch of it here, which I didn't find in this dry studio, nor did I dry it out in real time. I'm a survivalist. but I happen to have all kinds of stuff that I brought to the studio in my car.

I've got my cordage and bearing rock, which I brought here in my car, so you can use these.

Having watched way too many BABY MEN on Judge Judy it occurs to me that real men like you should teach a class. No, it should be part of general education to take manhood classes so that little girls know what to look for in a spouse and little boys know what to aspire to. I have saved this video to my documentary file because y’know - you never know. I have to share this. Thank you thank you thank you.

To combat loneliness in the wild, find your Wilson, find an object, either in the environment or something that you brought with you, then name it and talk to it as if it was a real person, tell it how you feel, vent to it or just talk to it about whatever you want.
I know it kinda sounds silly, but trust me it'll help a lot with the loneliness.

21: 48 That dunk on vegans and vegetarians in a survival environment was so good! There are lots of plants that will sustain you but many experts have said you really have to be sure about your plants. Many are poisonous and/or worse for you health. I'm a vegan btw and am looking to take survival classes in the future.

15: 37 This is a very important point for several countries, not just the US (or states therein. Snares and bear-trap-traps are luckily getting more and more illegal for hunting, unless as stated in the video that it is for immediate survival reasons (ie: for getting meat/ nutrition, NOT for getting fur/pelt.

I feel like whatever your race, gender, age, occupation, political affiliation, ETC; you can’t help but respect this man. Besides the charisma, I think it’s that deep down there is an awareness that the knowledge he possesses is fundamental to how we got to where we are as a species.

It's wild how many people in The West don't even know how to grow their own vegetables. Our society and its structures are so incredibly fragile because of how dependant we've became on technology and supply lines instead of learning first how to fend for ourselves.

fair warning, bowline knots were replaced by double figure 8's for rappelling due to an anecdotal report of it slipping under tension. it SHOULD be perfectly fine for that use however there is a super small chance it will slip whereas the figure 8 will not

I love when people ask how to keep good dental hygiene to a survivalist like if your in a survival situation your not thinking about how to brush your teeth like how long do u expect to be out there you'll either be rescued or die way before u get a cavity

when he mentions the helpful plants for washing etc he calls them out by name. Room for improvement would be to drop an image of each plant so that we could recognize them by sight. I can't remember what sage looks like for some reason

What i do not like about the survivalists is they show how to survive with tools they are already carrying like firestarters or rope which you might not have in a true survival situation.

This guy isn't your typical conspiracy theorist who thinks the world's going to end, you can tell he's extremely smart and knowledgeable about the outdoors and how best to survive.

A main reason why bears can be dangerous in the autumn is that they are all-in on a place to hibernate and can't afford to find a new one, so in essence, it's cornered.

why are snares or traps illegal in the US
even if you do it who will catch you in the middle of the woods doing it is there law enforcement patrolling or something

Probably one of the most informative and useful Wired episodes. When you have nothing or nobody, you can always carry knowledge like this. Oh, and get that axe.

awesome survival tips, but the addition of the word eskmo after saying inuit was unnesessary. inuit people have been saying the word is derogatory for decades.
