Everyone is different but i personally love loud background sounds coz it helps keep the audio level constant so i don't wake up when there is a lull. That being said- these stories are not for sleep. They are for entertainment due to the emotive way the lines are read and dramatic nature of it. It's not soothing - instead interesting. If it's marked that way i think it might do better.

I'll make another comment about the rain it has to be lowered, going in and out of buildings, in the space ships and turned off when you're going under the ocean in a submarine the rain fx has to be cut out so you have to pay attention to that. It just ruins all the stories.

I love the background rain, just needs dialed back a notch to be perfect. I had no problem to doze off. I play these several times until I finally actually hear the whole story awake. Love you!

I think the rain is there to mimic sitting and listening to a story on a rainy day. I really like it. Though, the rain effect could be set a little lower.
