The Oxford Book of Science Fiction Stories [1/3] Edited by Tom Shippey Read by Eric Meyers This one came from the RNIB instead of from the NLS and I found this floating out in the internet. Some great stories here but my favorite is The Monster by A. E. van Vogt. Beginning with H G Well's story The Land Ironclads, Tom Shippey's selection charts the development of twentieth century science fiction through a wide range of well known figures, as well as less familiar writers, and those of the 1980s and 1990s. The 30 stories offer a potent blend of familiar landmarks, and in his introduction, Professor Shippey analyses the main thematic and technical development of the genre over the last 90 years. Thanks for posting this. However, this seems to be a pretty arbitrary selection of SF stories. I’m five hours into the book and haven’t come across
