At the center o nearly every galaxy there's a monstruous place, called Black Hole. The pull of gravity there is so strong that even light can't escape it! This is what makes them so hard to see and pretty active.
And what would happen if a black hole meets a star? Would a star survive such an encounter? The energy released as the black hole eats up stellar material is huge. Moreover, black holes can attract not only stars and planets, but also other black holes! They eventually merge and become one - of a much greater mass! Wow! Space is a never-ending journey of discovery!
