How well versed are you and your friends on some of this black history trivia? buzzfeed: I feel as though the schools are mostly focused on passing standardise tests nowadays. so we never really learned about black history when it was black history month or even in general I felt like we always glazed over minority history within the U. S. and even being Hispanic myself we weren't really taught about Hispanic/Mexican American history. mostly learning as I get older by myself.

This might not be true but I'm pretty sure the reason Claudette Colvin wasn't chosen to be the spokesperson of the bus boycott movement was because she was a pregnant teenager and that wasn't family friendly or some bs like that. Rosa Parks is of course still an amazing woman, but it sucks that Colvin isn't given more credit.

Im disappointed in the black peoples with the Stevie wonder question. We all sing the black version of Happy Birthday! How you dont know Stevie wrote that for MLK? Wow
reply

Fun video but please do better on the audio! Are they not mic'd up? These sound effects are way too loud and obnoxious compared to the sound of their voices
reply

I somehow knew a lot of these. definitely not from school though lol and COME ON! Who and what did yall think Stevie wrote his Happy Birthday song for? lol

What on earth does SW opinions on MLK day have to do with history either way?
What does a womans hair have to do with history and its significantly?

reply

They chose Rosa parks to be the face of that movement bc the 15 year old who did it first was pregnant and thought that would be a bad narrative
reply

At least they stayed away from the Afrocentric idiocy about Ancient Egyptians being black or civilization being founded in black Africa.

I got 3 wrong.
Do people know they can read books to learn black history? As a grown person, blaming any type of school is lame.
