When comes to food, I rely mostly on my senses, I can eat expired food if it seems to be edible (I mean doesn't smell or taste bad. Many times I've eaten expired food and I had no major problems.
And don't take my example, I grew up in poor family, therefore I'm squeamish at the point of food. Don't eat expired food if you really don't have to.

best by isnt use by. expiration dates often times are just a suggestion and helps companies from getting sued. also the more product you buy and then ultimately throw out and buy more of is more money in the pockets of corporations. over 50% of all food produced in the u. s. winds up in the land fill. it would have been nice if you talked more on food waste and its horrendous impact on our planet.

Basically the reason for the installment of best by or sell by dates is that after buying these foods, people will have them sit around for a week up to months. Having those dates is basically that cushion time for the store that way the consumer can then have it around for that period of time without it going bad in the first few days.

My family and I have a bad habit of never throwing anything away, so we often eat boxed stuff that's expired, so I appreciate this video! Also, I went through one of our cupboards a few weeks ago and found a box of hot wheat cereal that had a best buy date of 1997. Finally threw it away.

I'm perplexed by the amount of dislikes. This is an educational and enlightening video. I wish before you disliked a video, you had to specify a reason. I'm always so curious about certain dislikes, if i can't really find a reason in the comments.

there's a difference between SELL BY and BEST BY. Even best by is a little flexible but it's technically the expiration date. Sell by is more for stores. There's usually a week or so after that date before a best by date, from my understanding.

Just ate a turkey breast sandwich for lunch.
The turkey breast was actually 3 days expired.
Now I think Im coming down with food poisoning. I have extreme stomach cramps. And a lot of nausea and diarrhoea

Need to go by how food looks & smells, not by any printed date. If food has spoiled, it will be VERY obvious. You will naturally recoil from encountering spoiled food.

i had to learn to smell and taste before throwing stuff away. even for take out food. if it doesnt taste like it normally does, then chunk it!
