140s is the old Army Fitness Test! The new one is called the ACFT (Army Combat Fitness Test. Consists of 140 lb deadlift (that's minimum, max weight is 360 lbs, then you go into the Standing Power throw (4. 6 meter minimum to pass, then Hand Release Pushups (10 minimum to pass, then the Spring-Drag- Carry (begin with a sprint, drag the 90 pound weights, then laterals, then 90 lb dumbbell carry, then another sprint, need to do all of this under 3 minutes, then the dreaded leg tuck (need 1 to pass, then the 2 mile run (under 21 minutes. We take it once a year and it's extremely tough!

Pushups did not count you have to go all the way up and all the way down to pass the pushups and you did not pass the situps because your hands have to be locked behind your head and your elbows have to touch your knees both of which you did not do so it's a fail for both events and the run standard is based on your age so if you're serious about joining the army you need to work on your push-ups and your situps if you want to get selected for the army.

I love how the whole point of this was to try to pass the APFT but they were going for 50 points in each category when you actually have to get 60 points which neither of them would have passed especially the female doing push-ups. None of those would have counted and then not to mention them not having their hands behind their heads, interlocked, whilst doing the sit ups. And then this isnt even the standard PT rest for the Army anymore anyways.

I admire the effort but the situps were all done incorrectly hands behind the head and fingers interlocked and as a grader I wouldn't have counted 1 of her pushups your elbows have to break the horizontal plane, outstanding job still the same, You are both in great shape and did so much better than most would have done with no training or practice.
reply

They really should have looked up more on the regulations and exactly how to do the exercises. Because the sit ups they did were incorrect. Their arms needed to stay behind their heads with their fingers interlock. They did do really good though for never trying a PT test before! Great Job!

I know you guys dont know the standards, but depending on your age you barely passed (the guy) the female would have had 0 push-ups counted. None of them were parallel with the marching surface. 7 years in the US army here.

regular people? They look like above average people. Where my obese people at? lol
But like literally. Military personnel can run 2 miles the same amount of time (or less) that it takes me to walk (run) 1 mile.

reply

U. S. Army standards dictate that they both failed the situps, their fingers need to be interlaced and behind their head at all times. They didn't interlace, so they did 0 sit ups in those 2 min.
reply

Automatic fail for both. Didnt square up the shoulders on push ups. Didnt touch shoulders on ground doing situps plus arms where at the side not back of head.
reply

Her push ups were nowhere near, her sit ups didnt count either - neither did his for that matter - if you are going to try to pass do the proper form lol
