Steve Rogers character arc can only be understood if you rewatch 1st Avenger, Age of Ultron and Winter Soldier
In 1st Avenger: Steve Rogers [pre serum], tells Peggy about all the fights he's had and lost.
She asks why he kept fighting [why not run away]
His answer - as a scrawny young man - who had polio as a kid - is that he always had something to prove.
Peggys reply: _I know something about that. _ (as a woman - as opposed to undersized man - who had the heart of a fighter)
When it's suggested that he find himself a girl (try being a lover, and not a fighter all the time) - Steve replies that girls: _terrified him. _ Go watch the film again, because some of the Steve stans deny this, cuz they are like little kids and actually share the characters insecurities. lol.
Peggy then coyly says: _Maybe you just have not found the right girl. _
And this leads to their romance - in which Steve promises to come back to Peggy.
But in the climatic final scenes of the film - He breaks his promise.
Steve choses to go down with the ship - to finally realize his goal of dying a hero, and thereby SKIRTING the one thing he stated he truly feared. girls. Love.
Can't be overstated: He didn't just prevent the plane from hurting others. he could have jumped out. nope HE WENT DOWN WITH THE PLANE. He died rather than risk going back to Peggy. Talk about standing up a date! lol.
[it's Peggy not Bucky that he broke his promise to - but again Steve and Bucky Stans view the film as 12 year old boys would and they completely ignore all of the above because the 'girl' from their perspective is just getting in the way of the Batman and Robin comic book for little boys. they are trying to sustain in their heads]

He realizes their love is mutual - and timeless. He can go home now.

He choses the lover this time - over the soldier. He choses Peggy over Captain America [again unacceptable to 12 year old boys, but the film is written for adults].
In doing so he also answers the Challenge that Tony 1st put to him: To get a life.
To try cutting the cord for once - instead of trying to fall on the grenade. And it was beautiful.
In so doing Steve Rogers completes his character arc, [some 'fans' don't even get that character arc implies change due to the narrative- not repetition despite the narrative.

My biggest criticism of Endgame is Captain Marvel: Hear me out.
This has nothing to do with a criticism of her character.
But, this was an 11 year, 20 film narrative. EVERY character in Endgame had been in MULTIPLE prior films BEFORE Endgame. Captain Marvel's film came barely a month and a half before Endgame. It was the definition of introducing her at the last possible moment
All of these other characters had not just multiple films, but YEARS of investment and familiarity from viewers. Captain Marvel barely got a chance to even be introduced to audiences, barely got time for anyone to even really settle on their opinions of her(good or bad)
Her inclusion into the Endgame narrative felt like the definition of forced and unearned
She had no dog in the fight. She had no anchor into the story. The ONE character from her film that connected her to the world of Endgame was Nick Fury. who was not even in Endgame. She was a total outsider.
The filmmakers had the problem of wanting to focus on concluding the established characters, but were FORCED to include Captain Marvel. so they gave her a minimal role. which only makes her inclusion feel even more odd and forced.
All of her scenes could have been divided across other characters. Rocket could have flown in and navigated his way to finding Stark and Nebula. Destroying Thanos' ship could have been Thor or Hulk or even a combination of the two of them. Pepper in her Iron Man suit could have easily led the lady avengers charging scene. Someone like Hulk or Thor could have been the last man standing preventing Thanos from snapping before he punched them with the power stone.
All of those moments would have been great to give to these other characters, they would have had a lot more value and emotional resonance. and not just be going to the Strong new girl everyone just met and barely knows and that goes for the audience and the characters in the film.
If they had shown some restraint, and saved Captain Marvel's introduction until Phase 4. and just allowed Endgame to focus 100% on being a finale for established characters and not a platform to springboard new characters. then I genuinely believe that Endgame would have actually made it to $3 Billion at the global box office and set a record no film would ever surpass.

my problems with Endgame are on the Final Battle:

Same happen when he confronted Captain Marvel. He should know her since she destroyed Supreme Intelligence long before the event of The Avengers (2012. In Infinity War, his timing in collecting infinity stone is perfect. Remember that Infinity War happened in 2018 while Endgame Thanos was from 2014. Four years gap is miniscule compared to his age and his experiences.
Other than those, I think Endgame is quite perfect as the culmination of everything before.

Infinity war and Endgame are masterpieces no doubt; and while phase 4 and 5 haven't all been very good, I think it's quite unfair when people are comparing casual movies to the literal culmination of the Infinity saga.
People saying that this is lacking nowadays when we haven't even seen the culmination of THIS saga yet. Secret wars is coming so they still have time to fix up their mistakes. But let's also not pretend like every single movie pre- endgame was a banger. They've always had their ups and downs, it's just that now they've really hit rock bottom.
But at least they have acknowledged, to the effect, that they screwed up and that they are now trying to push quality over quantity. So yeah lets wait and see if things do get better

I have a theory.
Avengers were never supposed to win. All those 14 Millions possibilities that strange saw was meant to happen and even in our timeline, Thanos actually Won and We saw that in Infinity War. But luckily, our strange who's obsessed with going against natural flow of time and fate decided to save Tony and create his own possible outcome to reverse what Thanos did. He knew that Thanos cannot be stopped so instead tried to revert the events in late future by sacrificing time stone and sparring Tony's life, which means that Tony also died on Titan in every single outcome from those 14 Million possibilities hence, Making our timeline the only timeline for Avengers to come out victorious

Personally, while I love Endgame, I think Infinity War is the superior movie, and probably one of the greatest superhero movies.
Endgame was a great movie too. But it was more of a send off than its own thing. And for that reason there are some issues which we are happy to forget. Pepper showing up in an iron man suit made no sense. Or at least it didnt have any build up. Does it matter though No. Because it is awesome. Cap's ending contradicts the central rule of time travel in thr movie. But the movie needed to give him the ending he deserved. So that is again something we forgive.
But infinity war didn't have that baggage. So it could stand on its own.

The Dark Knight is still the best comic book movie ever made. I’m an MCU fan, but TDK is still the best.
Cap’s ending is such a huge betrayal of his character. He knows the Avengers are living in a world with literal world ending enemies, just lost their biggest resource, and he just leaves. I’m with you till the end of the line went out the window. If they wanted to permanently write him out, he should’ve died along with Tony and Natasha, because what they did breaks their own time travel rules AND turns Steve into someone incapable of getting over loss. I can’t rewatch Endgame without the ending leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Avengers just killed him, that doesn't mean he lost.
He fulfilled his purpose of wiping half of universe.
And to the thor part I couldn't agree more when people talk about endgame captain or ironman get all the credit that one of them stood upto to thanos's all army & one of them sacrificed himself but you'll see rarely that someone appreciated thor for saving the universe.
And this has shown not only in real world but in MCU as well tony has many murals of people thanking jim. Captain also have something same but you rarely saw anyone appreciating thor.

People are trying to tell Phase 4 is better than Phase 1 There is literally no connection between the movies, these dont lead to anywhere. Phase 1 was trying build the team. Phase 4 wasnt even building legacy. The only project dealing with the consequences was WandaVision. TFATWS was so shallow - Falcon doesnt believe he deserves the shield but gets it back anyway, so if you skip the show, you miss nothing. Loki is a separated story and luckily it's good. They tried to connect Shang Chi with the Avengers. Okay, where is he after 3 years When will we see him After Avengers 5 Such a mess

Thor was doing exactly what a good proper warrior should do whenever he was standing on that hillside looking down at Thanos. Rather than rush head first into battle, he was stopping and assessing the situation before he charged into battle like before.
He was so used to being on the front lines, with Hella, with Thanos, the Frost Giants, the Chi’tari, etc.
He still wants to kill him but only this time in Endgame he isn’t running and charging into the battle. He is being smart.

No it is not the best marvel movie, the best one by far is infinity war
End game plot is dumb and totally predictable
The feeling of infinity war when the villain won for the first time in movies was jaw dropping and amazing
And its plot was waaaaaaay better than end game
In my opinion end game was undoing all the amazing feeling of losing heroes you care about
Imagine if Thanos stayed there and our beloved heroes was dead and replaced by X-Men and F4

I am not really a fan of Marvel because of their color selections and make their movies so bright that they lose their seriousness however movies by Avengers Endgame still are my favorite ones and I can watch almost every of them anytime without skipping because of the stories and actions. I would still like Marvel to have some less bright colours so that the seriousness can be maintained.

What a great series to live through! It was such a unique experience to leaving Infinity War and having a this feeling of somber hovering in the air. The anticipation of Endgame, it is felt like gathering after a funeral, we all try to move on, stay positive, but it hurts. Then to have that glimmer of hope to over come and bring them back - -.
Endgame fired on all cylinders!

Another detail I noticed that When we see Cap is taking therapy sessions, we are reminded of Falcon taking those in Winter Soldier movie. Maybe Cap wanted to continue the good work of Falcon as he genuinely admired him as a person.

Another detail I noticed that When we see Cap is taking therapy sessions, we are reminded of Falcon taking those in Winter Soldier movie. Maybe Cap wanted to continue the good work of Falcon as he genuinely admired him as a person.

First time I saw a movie at 06: 00 effing AM in the morning with a fully packed audience.
First time I sensed the audience cheering and crying as loud as they could together.
First time seeing a movie ended with a massive standing ovation. Which rarely happens in my country.
Surreal. Just surreal. And definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
