Why was fallout 3 a big deal?

Fallout 3 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One) was awesome, and it set the standard for many FPS RPGs that came later. What exactly made it great? Let's dive in Layarion: Hmm i think you're being unfair on FO1. I'm starting on this series there, and there are a lot of little details that you gotta pay attention to because there is more there. Though, i'm only a few (literal) days into the game. Example, having a high luck and some other things, you can make a pack of bandits think you're the ghost of a guys father if you dress up like him a tad. then try to use that to make them do things.

When I had just started highschool, I bought an Xbox 360 and I got a second hand copy of Fallout 3 for it. The first time coming out of vault 101 was indescribable. At this moment, I have about 4500 hours logged on the Xbox version alone -

My favorite memory of fallout 3 was the opening cutscene with the jukebox flickering on to playing Ink Spots I don-t want to set the world on fire and seeing the camera pan to a ruined Washington DC from that moment on I was hooked

Just played this for the first time recently, it hasn't aged well imo but it certainly set the bar for fallout games to come. If I didn't feel rushed due to the new Destiny 2 season I would've enjoyed this game so much more

It's still my favorite game to this day. Been a few years since I've played it but I had over 20,000 hours on it. Never had a game hook me like that before or since. NV was great but 3 is best.

My favorite quest is to find the last violin for an old lady named Agatha, and the reward is after the quest ended properly, I can hear her plays the violin on her radio broadcast

Fallout 3 was actually the reason I got a Xbox 360 I was always a Nintendo kid and I saw the commercial for Fallout 3 at a Sears department store and was hooked! Good times!!

I could not believe that when I played FO3, I randomly wandered into the simulation of Anchorage and walked out stronger with an armour suit. Woohoo

Ya know what-s weird, that every time I-m in Megaton, I-m actually afraid that the bomb could go off at any minute, that-s some good game making

Simple: it was never a big deal. The graphics weren't wow at the time (btw, i don't care for graphics), and the writing/main story was shit.
