10 Games That Look TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE Ever since Watch Dogs back in the day, I never trusted teaser or gameplay footage anymore. Unless the game is out and I can actually see it running from someone who bought it, only then I might consider buying a game. Otherwise you also have a Days Before scenario again and I'm not willing to part with that type of money for something that looks and feels completely different than shown before. Even Rainbow Six Siege had things in their gameplay trailers that never got implimented (the rooftop entry via helicopter, aswell as the searchlights on the house for example.

Regarding number 8, it says in game and cinematic footage, it doesn't mean it's actual gameplay. It's likely all scripted and nine if it is game play. Just in engine renders.
Edit: most of these small studio projects will likely be scams or cash and dash projects. Eastern based releases are notorious for this, they hype up a project and then after the initial release, and they get their initial funds, all support is gone etc.

Virtually all these games are just animations. First, you can just look and tell yeah this is clearly not a gameplay footage but also when it comes to camera angles and how the movements connect with adversaries and the world - AI models made good progress but we are still not there yet.
Another good hint is most of these studios are unknown or their past work wasn't anywhere close to what they are trying to sell now.

Phantom blade 0 for sure need to publish a real gameplay. Looks very scripted. You don't see that. Gameplay loop on their trailer. Everything is different all the time, all the battles has something different happening. Maybe is a giant scripted fight scene, long animations or just a cutscene. This game has a lot to explain for sure.

The main issue that I have with games for a while now with few exceptions is the character facial and physical animation and level of detail. While the world itself can now be easily made to look like real life using something like UE5, the characters themselves feel like a decade behind.

They're all exciting, but it's too good to be true - so not sure if we should wait and get our hopes crushed or just don't think about them although they're something to think about. A weird paradox! Anyway, GREAT LIST, Jake! Waiting for Friday updates.

well, I guess this will be a good test to see whether or how well new or small developers can make awesome AAA-like games. or a lesson in people (especially people like Sony) needing to be a lot more careful in what games they are promoting.

6 out of 10 of these games are open-world third person dark fantasy RPGs and the look is sooo boring at this point. The Dune game gets its aesthetics from the movies, so there is that, and Squadron 42 is a Mass Effect/Halo mashup.
reply

Dune is in decent hands, the developers did Conan exiles.
And squadron 42 has potential but I'm only gonna be hyped if Mark the legend himself shows up and says Hey believe in the force. The game is coming.

there was an open world cartoon looking Chinese game that was showed like 2 years ago at some event I forget but it had lots of bright colors and looked like gta made for fun and visuals
reply

I wonder why most of these unbelievable graphics games are specifically developed by seemingly small Chinese developers. Why not by big budget Western or Japanese developers

Black Myth Wukong is another game that has me very skeptical but also very interested, looks incredible and too ambitious but I really hope it turns out to be great

All you need to do is make a game LOOK good, and idiots will buy it. don't expect that to change any time soon unless you speak with your wallet.

Man so many games on this list raises so many red flags, and what a surprise a lot of these come from China. Let’s hope most these turn out to be true.

Nobody Wants To Die is a recent candidate. Honestly, developers need to stop with the pre-rendered trailers and just show gameplay, REAL gameplay.

Let's just take a moment to appreciate how many hours and work he put into this video It's amazing, and I think they deserve way more than that!

Considering the let downs in recent years I would say the headline is probably acurate for most of these games sadly. Only time will tell but.

the Dune gameplay just looks like Conan Exile in the Dune Universe nothing special even the spidermanish wall climbing looks almost the same

A game ahead of it's time and still kicks other game's ass in graphics is Red Dead Redemption 2. It's crazy how good it looks.
