I don't mind that games are long for a playthrough if there is no reason to do a second playthrough.
Persona's games are great and give you a great first playthrough I would say over 60hours easily. But then you want to see other endings, try other romances, 100% the game, etc etc, and you you need 30-40 hours per playthrough just to change some small thing here or there, that not even affects the overall story That sucks too much. like, FFVII Remake atleast gave you the option of you repeating some chapters to get what you need, but Personas do stretch it out a bit too much.
On the other hand, we have Civilization or X-Com type games, where you can drop a few dozen hours per playthrough but each can go very different than before. Not to mention Paradox games.
So my opinion is that if it's a story-based game, a playthrough might be long if you don't need us to play it again to see everything.

For Rebirth, it's funny that my opinion differs so much from the average player base because honestly I could have used more mini games, or maybe not even more, just the mini games they did have I wish had more depth. Like most of them you just kind of go maybe two levels deep. There's a normal mode, a hard mode, maybe like a couple of different maps or something, but honestly I would have enjoyed 10 levels deep. You know something that really upped the ante in terms of difficulty and creativity in each of these minigames.
The Queen's Blood stuff is really the only one that they went super hard on but everything else seem to be just Here's a minigame. All right, you did it. like obviously some of the later versions, especially the chocobo one where you fly through the rings, were a little too hard, but still I could have used a bit more for a lot of them.

#1 examples of teams that can't come up with good quests or engaging gameplay and instead pad it out. Avowed and it's angst ridden NPC's that force you to interact with them for hours and force you into decisions you don't want and really conversations you don't want to have and NONE of it affects the end of the game. NONE OF IT. Just hours and hours of filler platforming and dialogue. I'm sure the milennials on the teams that spend thousands of hours agonizing over branching dialogue thought they were really doing the Lords work. Pfft. Useless filler.

Stalker 2 isnt over 100 hours. I have around 86 hours in it, however thats not only doing alot of the side mission stuff and alot of exploring, but probably a good 15-20 hours of that was when it launched, with all the game breaking bugs, trying to optimize it to get it to actually run etc.
In the state it is now that a LOT has been fixed and performance has gotten far better, if you just focused on the main story and not alot of side quests or exploring, its probably a 40ish hour game.

Yeah Valhalla really, really tested my patience. And I played P5 before I knew what Royale was and got stuck having to do it all over again _;
But man, you wanna talk about slogs, freaking The Last Remnant. I still like that game, I appreciate what it was trying to do but holy shit getting 100% on the original Xbox 360 release was a nightmare.
I don't know that I want to subject myself to that again on PS5, especially since they fixed the Rush Grind trick

Now imagine playing 130 hours of Persona 5 Royal, only to find out that in order to 100% it, you have to go through NG and fuse one singular persona to finish your compendium.
You can complete every other quest, social link, max your stats & get 99% of your compendium, but there's one final fusion that requires NG.
It's a dumb thing Atlus does with the Persona games, and it's for that reason I have 1 achievement missing from all of them

Honestly these days for me, most games are too long for me. Between work and other life obligations, I don't have the time nor patients these days to complete forever long games. I tried playing monster hunter wilds recently and did about 3 hours gametime, and it feels like I hardly did anything with it.
Maybe that's partly why I like indie games these day. they're relatively short and get to the point pretty quickly

Valhalla is crazy long, wich would be fine if most of the content was not as mindless and repetitive.
Why make such a huge map if it is only to hide a few treasures and bs collectibles around
Ok, there are a lot of cool landscapes to see but if there is nothing to do in them, it is pointless.
Most side missions were either completely generic or crazy long. The ones where you go to other dimensions are excruciating.

FF7 Rebirth started to drag for me after Gongaga my first playthrough. The side quests are okay to sup par. The proto relic quest is a chore and every region has the exact same macguffins. It took me 90 hours or so my first playthrough and I still had several side quests to do. Replaying it again and I’ve skipped every side quest. Currently at 50 hours and it’s been such a better experience lol

The unlock all areas to progress thing from Valhalla has been used over and over again in recent Ubisoft games like Far Cry New Dawn, Wildlands or Division 2, and also in other games like Biomutant or Mafia 3. it's not fun. it's just a tedious way that Devs found to make the games last longer. There's nothing I hate more and that's the main reason I do not buy Ubisoft games anymore.

I've actually stopped playing Assassin's Creed games because of how long and bloated they had became with Odyssey and Valhalla. I enjoyed Origins, it was a great 60ish hours game, but when I past the 60 hour point in both Odyssey and Valhalla, with no end game in sight, that was the end of the AC games for me. I played through the first AC when I played Odyssey and enjoyed it more.

So I've ruined rebirth for myself. I'm die ff7 fan. Took time off for rebirth. I did every single thing up till temple of the ancients. After the fight with the turks I was burnt out. Didn't wanna keep going. Didn't go back to that save for months. Deleted it and restarted didn't make it past costal del sol. Now it's just shelved. I hate that I did that to myself

I 100% completed AC Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla including all DLC. It was honestly really fun. I love the new style AC games. I’m not being sarcastic, I genuinely do love them. It doesn’t help that I’m also into Trophy hunting so I can’t not finish a game hahahahaha. It also doesn’t help I’ve got a wife and three children! Hahahaha

Honestly enjoyed stalker 2 and was 95% complete until the did an update and my character was stuckin the middle of a field. Controlls would just not responde. Only thing that worked was i could turn in circles. Even reloaded an earlier save and had the same issue. Made me unistall it and havent played since. That was 6 months or so ago

I think for a lot of games 20 hours should be good. I’d rather enjoy a short game than suffer through a long one. Especially now that so many games feel bloated just for the sake of being bloated. I get 40 hour RPGs but I’m tired of so many games being that long or even longer. I think that’s why I enjoyed Space Marine 2 so much.

I’m 120 hours into final fantasy 7 rebirth and barely reaches nibelheim because I perfect all the mini games and side missions even playing the piano. Yeahhh it’s kinda bloated but it’s fun besides most of the mini games they’re tedious and annoying especially having to capture the chocobos just to ride them

Valhalla was cool for me, if you’re enjoying the game it doesn’t matter if it’s long. I fell like going from region to region kept things fresh. I also played the DLCs which introduced more countries like Ireland and France, didn’t do the mythological stuff tho, felt like it was too much, I prefer the grounded stuff.

sees that #1 is MHGU
me who just bought it last night because it was on sale.
But for real, i know i'm getting my money's worth since im a long time fan of the MH franchise. i only ever skipped MHGU since i already played through MHGenerations on 3DS and i didn't have a switch at the time of MHGU release.

I never completed Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I got Valhalla and barely touched it. I now refuse to buy any new Assassin's Creed games. I only play the old ones. I hate the RPG direction they went with and the games are too long. Some boss fights are pretty much impossible for me. It's boring at this point.

Loved final fantasy rebirth with all its content cause me and every other final fantasy fan knows we ain’t getting part 3 for years. But I will say I did not attempt a platinum run. Just on my first run I finished at 100 hours of gameplay. I wasn’t sinking another 70-100 hour on hard mode.
