The Cyberpunk narrative about the game improving dramatically is weird to me. I played it on release and it was buggy but still. the same game. Sorry, but the turnaround was a result of a massive PR spend by CDPR when initial sales and public response was tepid. I had a lot of fun playing it, but the primary obstacle at launch on PS5 was that it'd crash every 2-3 hours. There's some conflation between the terrible PS4 version of the game and the PS5 one; I think the proliferation of PS5 units across the nation had more to do with a renewed vigor in the game than any substantial improvements. More people just got to play the better port of the game.

12: 04 no I'm pretty sure the marketing confusion didn't really help. Remake and rebirth were confusing for a lot of gamers. Which game was the second in the trilogy was a bit ambiguous.
For die hard fans, they obviously knew but for casual gamers they really had no idea. Also, it took awhile for an actual release date to come out and for a lot of people they got busy with other things and before they knew it, the game was already out and they missed the initial release of the game.
Others were upset that the game was split into 3 games.
I know I was. Many people I know were also upset for the same reason.

I think a big part of FF7 remake's failure is gamers and people in general being pissed about being milked for every last penny. Single games / movies that are now released as trilogies is a trend that I just don't buy into. I LOVED the original FF7, and was very excited to see the remake come out, but never played it because I didn't want to deal with waiting years to finish the game and pay $180 over the course of multiple releases. Maybe when it goes on sale.

I honestly got lucky, I guess, with cyberpunk. I didn't have anything like ppl posted online. I had a normal bug lvl that comes out all the time (it obviously shouldn't be buggy. I had some clipping and bad bad cop AI and that's about it. I played it day one. I also watched someone play it on twitch and they didn't have the issues presented online either. I know PS4 had to refund the game. Is the PS game where a lot of these videos came from

I'm glad I didn't try Cyberpunk 2077 until Phantom Liberty. Absolutely adore it.
Also, I'm one of the people that didn't bother with FF7 Rebirth because I was so disappointed by FF7 Remake. The original FF7 is one of my all-time favorite games, but I hated FF7R and it completely killed my interest in new FF7 media of any kind. I played the FF7 Rebirth demo just to give it a chance, and it felt like more of the same as FF7R, so, no thanks.

10: 24 rebirths problem is that 1: The useless open world thats just an obsticle to get from a to b. it really felt like instead of an open world game, they made a linear game and put it in an open world. And 2: The fact that the worst part of the game, are the first 20 hours. the good parts of rebirth are really good but there were also so many lows. Thats why i still prefer remake, as a more consistent experience.

I still want Final Fantasy 7 rebirth. The problem is I just spent $70 on the first game and it just feels like a lot of money to drop on what is essentially one big game. I can understand maybe putting each game at 40 bucks and then the total Trilogy you will be 120 but at the rate that they're charging this is going to be a $250 video game that's just a lot considering the original was like 50 bucks total

I haven't gotten the new FFVII iteration because, although I appreciate all they put into it, I wanted something that redid the original game while fixing those little things that every creator thinks they should've done different.
but. those little things.
The original game wasn't a minigame-fest. This iteration seems to be. I'll pick it up when I'm in the mood for Final Fantasy: Majora's Mask.

I think FF7 Rebirth would have done better if it had also been a same day release on Steam.
The first Space Marine game I will always say did well because it came out when we were up to our eyeballs in cover shooters, It was a total breath of fresh air. Also I think in general the 40k franchise is doing better.
Another game for a list like this is probably Warframe.

i think the biggest criticism for FFvii remake was the combat, as a diehard oldschool FF fan i couldnt bring myself to play rebirth because i don't like the square's action combat mechanics they use for FF games now. When you add in the ubisoft style open world i'd rather just go back and play the original, it's a much better game. I skipped XVI entirely due to the combat as well.

After playing for 50hrs spent doing chores (gathering world Intel, doing side quests, etc) more than doing actual main quest, I'd say FFVII Rebirth deserved a flop. It's just a small games filled with too many unnecessary and boring filler and mini games. Subjectively speaking, I feel like only 40% of the Rebirth's content that's fun and relevant to the story.

It's crazy that people still try to stick to the 'no one saw CP 2077 recovering' storyline as if the exact same thing didn't happen with The Witcher 3. Projekt games have a bit of jank at launch. We should expect this by now. If that's a dealbreaker for people, they need to wait a year or so. Personally I had a blast with my launch version playthrough.

They didn't prove me wrong, they looked uninteresting and boring and they are uninteresting and boring. Lets face it, MOST games suck probably only 33% of games created are actually really good games, the rest just suck because they are too simple, too repetitive, too boring, too slow, too buggy, too pointless, too complicated, or too confusing.

Not since Final Fantasy 14 (2013)
Umm. No Man's Sky (2016) which is the current poster child for Bad Game Comebacks.
Just Sayin!
The only thing Star Citizen has proven people wrong is that a game can't stay in Alpha/Beta Release forever. It should not be on this list and again NO MAN'S SKY! is the poster child for Bad Game Comebacks.

About rebirth, it gives me some hope that it's apparently doing well on PC. A lot of people will have waited for the pc launch after what happened with remake, but i double dipped and honestly i don't regret it at all. I had an absolute blast both times, and i only hope more people play it over time and that the third game lives up to it.

Will Falcon or Jake be covering the Early Access release of Storror: Parkour Pro
The name doesn't sound like much, but the team behind it worked on games like Burnout and Black (PS2, and the parkour group Storror is the biggest team in the world, they've been in movies, made documentaries, have a clothing and shoe line, now a videogame.

Correction: FF7 rebirth didn’t perform as well because of the delay. The creators didn’t listen to the players when we said we aren’t gonna wait yrs to get the next installment of the same game! We complained that it was a ripoff and we felt cheated. They didn’t listen. 4yrs later they released part 2 & ppl lost interest

Putting Star Citizen on this list is like saying playing the lottery is a good financial investment. At least with the lottery we know someones wins. It didnt prove any gamer right or wrong. It just still exsists. And no, I am not going to buy the game and see for myself. That mentality comes off like an MLM you got too deep into.

I believe that what hurt FF7: Rebirth can be summarized in two particular issues: 1. The toxic PS5 exclusivity, 2. The hard RTX requirement for the PC. Two decisions that resulted in less sales. Had they extended it to PS4 (as a courtesy, and kept RTX as an option and not a requirement, the numbers would've looked different.

Of course it makes sense Rebirth failed to achieve their goals: the first game was 5/10; half of the things were good, the other half were bad. I haven't played Rebirth. I will once the game is sold for only 20 or 25 bucks. Also, everyone who got the first game during the first years, did so for PS4, not everyone has a PS5.
